Chapter 12

"Sydney!" Sandra screamed as we found Sydney on the floor. Ms. Harriet came into the hallway and saw Sydney. All five of us crowded around her. I found Sydney's gloves on the floor and slid them onto her hands. She wasn't transformed... I could've sworn she transformed earlier... didn't she?

Ms. Harriet put her fingers on Sydney's neck reading her pulse. "Its slowing down. We need to get her to one of the medical rooms, now."

I grabbed Sydney's arms, while Sandra grabbed her legs. Callie teleported over and put her arms underneath Sydney for extra support. We ascended down the hallway.

"What happened?" Rina asked as she glanced at Sydney.

"Well... I would check the security cameras, but the person who did this to Sydney cut off all the power," Ms. Harriet replied.

Sydney's breathing grew harder. She was hyperventilating. "I think we need to hurry," I said as Sydney's arm jerked in my grip.

We started running down the halls keeping an eye out for the medical center. "Stay with me, Sydney," I heard Sandra whisper. Sydney's closed eyes jerked back and forth. Her breathing grew harder.

"Oh, thank God!" I shouted as we ran into the medical room. We placed Sydney onto the bed. She started thrashing.

Ms. Harriet walked over to Sydney's face and pulled back her eyelid. She froze. Ms. Harriet grabbed a flashlight and shined it over Sydney's face. Sydney opened both of her eyes and snatched the flashlight out of Ms. Harriet's hands and threw it across the room.

I looked into Sydney's eyes and saw that they were black and red. "There is something definitely wrong with her!" I yelled as I backed up to the wall. Sydney smiled an absolutely wicked smile and grabbed her necklace which was also black and red. Ms. Harriet tried grabbing the necklace, but Sydney beat her to it and disappeared.

I entered the necklace and faced... six mirrors? Weren't there normally five? One for each of us? Maybe Ms. Harriet's got added...

I stepped in front of the sixth mirror and saw... is that me? It was me, but with black eyeshadow and dark red lipstick. The outfit was a red and black leather long sleeve shirt, red and black leather pants, knee high black boots, and the thing that got me the most... black leather gloves. I looked into the girl's eyes and saw they were black and red. Just like his. Luke's. I smirked.

"What have you done to me?" I asked through my teeth. There was no response of course... but I still had that inner feeling pulling me down further. Deeper into darkness. I took a step away from the mirror... and then took two steps forward. Its just so hard to resist... but why?

I hope you enjoy these last few seconds of freedom... because it seems to me that you are about to be consumed by Dark Light...

Dark Light...

What an absolutely gorgeous combination of words. I shook my head, resist. The girl in the mirror then nodded at me and extended her hand. Resist the feeling of resisting, she seemed to say.

Okay.

I walked toward the mirror. I felt energy buzzing around inside me. It felt like pain... but the kind of pain you never wanted to go away. The kind of pain that makes you what you are. Who you are.

I accepted the girl's hand.

As I stepped into the mirror, I felt a tear slip down my face. I believe that tear was the last bit of good I had left.
