Keeping the last book in the shelf, she sat down on the sofa with a sigh. Today had been tiring. Shifting was always a pain for her, though this has happened many times now. She looked around and admired her hours of hard-work. This was the most perfect apartment for her. She fell in love with it at first sight. It was a simple one bedroom apartment but it just perfect for her.The living room was a normal size with maple wood flooring, clean white walls decorated with some paintings she got on discount at target and a large window at the end of the room. The best part of this apartment was the bedroom's sunset view.
She had graduated in literature with flying colors and was given opportunity to work as a lecturer in Prestige University. It was difficult to get pass the exam to get into the University. But she did everything she could to do that and she did. Now that she got a job,she felt accomplished. As an orphan, her life was full of struggles. Doing many part time jobs to save up money for her studies had paid off now. Looking at the clock, it was 6.00 pm now. Making herself a cup of coffee, she sat by the bedroom window admiring people outside on the road. She could see a mother feeding ice cream to her daughter, a young boy walking hand in hand with his sister, a pregnant woman walking with her husband. They all looked happy. She couldn't help but feel jealous. They all had something which she didn't- family. Her heart ached again with loneliness. She wondered when she could finally be happy. Will she find the one who would give her a sense of belonging? A sudden ring got her out of her thoughts. Seeing the caller ID she couldn't stop the smile on her face. It was her aunt Grace. Grace ran the orphanage where Elene had spent her life until she was 18 years. Few hours after talking with Grace, she heated the left over pizza for her dinner. She was tired and had to wake up early for tomorrow. She couldn't wait to start her day tomorrow at the University. She felt as if something was going to change for the better and she couldn't wait for this change.
Life had been hard for him. Being the alpha king and a hybrid between a wolf and a wizard made him more powerful than anyone else. The moon goddess had blessed him as the king of the supernatural kingdom. But what was the use of this power? This power was the reason he was targeted by the enemies all these years. This power couldn't save his parents when they died protecting him. Alone- That's what he had felt all these years. He was supposed to find his mate 5 years back when he was 18 years old. But he hasn't found her yet. It's something he is glad for. He doesn't want that "weakness". That's what he tells himself, but when he sees his beta and best friend Xavier with his mate Claire, he can't help but feel jealous. He doesn't want to feel love again. It's weakness. And he can't afford to have that weakness. His people depended on him. He alone was enough to keep them safe always. A mate would obstruct him from his work. Finishing the last paper works, he stood by his bedroom window. His room was dark just like his life. If only he has his mate to share everything, he wished and then shook his head for having such thoughts. Looking at the mirror, he could just see a cold-heart person. Yes that's what he was and that's what he will be always.
He felt strange today. Something was going to happen. It had made him anxious. His wolf, Arius, was the moodiest today. He let out Arius ,his black huge wolf , and jumped into the trees howling for someone. Whom? Even He had no idea. Running through the forests gave him peace. It had always helped him to clear his mind.
A sudden mind link disrupted his run. It was Xavier. He was calling him for dinner. Xavier was the only one closest to family he had. Xavier and Claire had known him from when they were born. They had always been with him in his darkest days as well as his happy days. He was glad to have Xavier with him and Claire as the beta female for the kingdom. Finishing up his dinner, he went back to his bed. Something was strange today. He was looking forward to morning. For the first time he slept in no time. Maybe the paper works had been too much. In his dream, he saw a woman with blonde hair. He tried to go catch her, but she disappeared. Who was she? He couldn't help but keep running trying to get her. He would find her soon. He hoped.
