Chapter 1: First Day at Work

Elene's pov:

It was 5.55 am when I work up. I was a weird one. Unlike the most, I always woke up before my alarm rang. I would still wait for it to ring for me to get off the bed. Well like most people, I did hate parting away from my bed.  I had to report by 10 and there was a lot of time left. I always like being on time. The only habit of me that I  am actually really proud of. I had selected my outfit for the day yesterday. So not much of work today. I didn't want to screw up today at all. First impressions are important according to me and I wanted mine to be good. After brushing my teeth, I went into the kitchen. I was too hungry. I get really hungry in morning. I need a really good amount of breakfast to start my day. After contemplating on what to make, I finalized on sandwiches. I could use them for lunch too. I wasn't sure of how the canteen food would be and I had outside food for wayyy too long now. After eating and packing sandwiches, I went for bath. It was 8 and I was ready to go. The University was 5 km from where I lived. The cab was going to come at 9.30. I had lot of time to spare. Sitting by the window,  I smiled to myself thinking over life,faith and destiny. Life was so unexpectable. I would've never expected I would've come here a month back.

Moving into a new town and starting over was difficult but ,I knew this was a new beginning which I needed. Glendale, my new home, was so far, very serene with its population of 1,05,623 people from what google says. It didn't have huge skyscraper buildings. It only had bungalows, small apartments and lot of greenery. I haven't explored much but  when I checked on Google Maps,  there are many places to visit here. Glendale is a one of the historic cities in the world and has many tourists visiting it throughout the year.  It doesn't have any major companies. The only major thing here is Prestige University. Prestige University is one of the best universities in the world. It had a very strict hiring procedure. I had gone through 5 interviews for goodness sake.  This university was founded by the Karius Blazewood back in 1970s who was then the owner of  Blazewood Industries. The university was still under Blazewood industries which right now was  a multinational and multi billionaire company with its businesses in fields of education, IT,  cosmetics, healthcare, hotels, shopping malls and even in law. It had it branches in almost all countries in the world. It was a dream company for many as it guarantees job security and also other benefits. Well I couldn't agree more. The company had helped me to find a place to stay. I have cab facility given by the company to go to the University too. Well, the company does live up-to what people say. 

The cab came at exactly 9.30. I made a mental note to myself to not be late. I really disliked making people wait for me even if it I was making them wait for 5 minutes.  The drivers name is Sam. He was a amiable man. He told me all about the best nearby places to be and also about his wife. This place was more welcoming than I had ever thought. In no time we were near big gates. Prestige University had 6 entries. 2 entries for teachers, 3 for the students, and 1 entry only for the higher ups as in the principal, Board of directors and the like. All teachers and students had to show their ID card and were checked for drugs and alcohol before entering. Like I said, it's one of the best universities. This measures make it more prestigious. The University looked the same as it did on Google photos. It was splendid and big. The University was surrounded by the woods a few kilometres of woods behind. From what google says that's where one of the houses of the current CEO of the  Blazewood is. Sam stopped in front of one the buildings which I believe is the head office. Taking a deep breath or many deep breaths, I told Sam goodbye and stepped out. 

There were two guards by the building entrance. Man,  the security was super strict here. Showing my ID to the guards, I made my way to the reception area.  According to the mail sent, I had to meet  Mrs. Maria Knightly who would then explain me all the next procedures to follow.  There weren't many students as the college is supposed to start after a week.  I went towards the receptionist. Her name badge read Sherry.  She was busy reading some file. Well here goes nothing. "Excuse me, I am the new here. I have to meet Mrs. Knightly." She looked up and gave a friendly smile. She was staring at me for a few seconds as if trying to understand something about me. She started smelling the air and from the look on her face after that, I guess she realized something and then gave a bright smile and told to wait for sometime. Well,  I guess my body wash is not that bad then. She dialed some number and got on call. I guess that was Mrs. Knightly. Soon she cut the call. "Go to the 3rd floor and the first room to your right". Okay that's not that hard. There were direction boards everywhere. Considering the size of the campus, I guess it was a good choice. This building had elevators as well as lifts. Within no time I reached 3rd floor by lift.  "first room on right." I chanted in my head. Well this is it. Deep breaths.
