Patton's POV
I'm just a normal dude, that can summon animals, and can sense peoples feelings.
Yeah, I know I'm weird.
I'm Patton, and I'll explain how I got these powers.
Well, at least I'll explain how I got the summoning animal power. The empath one, I was born with. I'm just good with people.
Basically, as a child, I lived in a cottage by the woods. Everyday, I'd go in there to play, since I am an only child, and I'd look for a friend.
I got pretty friendly with the nearby animals. I wasn't able to understand them, but they would protect me from any harm.
One day, I went into the forest and I saw a big deer.
I slowly moved towards it, noticing it's unusual size.
Suddenly, it charged at me. I jumped to the side, dodging it, but didn't run. It was too beautiful, entrancing me with its beauty.
After I jumped to the side, it charged again, and I wasn't able to move this time.
It hit me, and I felt something weird happen to me.
Suddenly, I could almost.... read it's thoughts?
I hopped up, my head aching, but otherwise fine, and suddenly it was talking, except it's mouth didn't open.
Listen here, foolish human, the deer thought, you do not own these woods. I do. You will leave, and never return!
I ran, terrified and didn't return.
When my parents asked me why, I explained that I was scared of the woods, and that they couldn't force me to go in them.
They didn't fight me. Actually, they didn't want me in the woods in the first place, so it was a win for them.
However, every so often, I'd see my old forest friends appear at the edge of the woods, and I'd shake my head sadly at them, or ignore them until they left.
When I was 5, we moved away from the cottage, so that I could go to school in the city.
The first day at school, the teacher gave us our assigned seats, seating us alphabetically.
I was Patton Cakes so my seat was right next to the front.
The kid next to me, his name was Logan Crofter.
"Hi! I'm Patton, what's your name?" I asked, energetically, as always.
"I am Logan Crofter. Would you like to be friends?" Logan asked. Obviously, he was smart. I mean, he had glasses!
"Yeah, sure!" And we've been best friends ever since.
——
One day, in 10th grade, I saw a deer in the middle of the road.
"Move, before you get hurt!" I called to the deer. I had been walking home with Logan, and was confused as to why it was there.
Suddenly, I heard it's thoughts.
Thank you, human. I will not forget this, it thought before it ran off.
Logan felt confused. "How did it understand you?... must have been a coincidence."
"Yeah, it probably was, Lo." I said, before having to drag his hand to make him continue walking.
——
I had lived all of my life without telling anyone about my power. Well, again, not including the empath thing. That was just common knowledge, where I was from, that I was an empath.
Ever since I was a child, I was very sensitive to emotions. At first, they thought it was just because I was young, and that eventually I'd grow out of it.
I never did.
I could feel if someone was sad, happy, angry, confused and a bunch of other emotions mainly by being near them.
Anyway, one day after I finished college, I needed somewhere to go. I knew that my parents wouldn't let me move back in with them, so I decided to call Logan.
"Hey, Lo!" I said, happily. "I was just wondering we could move in together? I-I mean, it would be better with rent, and I can't afford a place by myself..."
"Sure, Patton." Logan said.
"Thank you! I'll be by... in a couple of hours?" I said, hoping it wouldn't be an issue.
"Ok, see you then." Logan said, then he hung up.
——
After I got there, I noticed how small Logan's place was.
"It's... quaint." I said, deciding that that was the perfect word, that hopefully wouldn't hurt his feelings.
"Yeah, I know." Logan said. "It will be a tight fit, but... well, it was a good idea Patton. Maybe we will even be able to afford a bigger place, eventually."
"Yeah, maybe Lo." I agreed.
Logan showed me where I would be staying (in a small room that I wouldn't have noticed otherwise), and I started unpacking.
Suddenly, I heard Logan's voice.
I wonder what Patton wants for dinner... he thought, I suppose I'll go ask him.
I froze. I realized he hadn't spoken, but it was as if he had.
"Hey, Patton..." Logan started, then he saw me frozen. "Are you okay, Pat?"
"Y-yeah, just... I'm just fine." I lied, and almost corrected myself. I hate lying, and will do anything to avoid it.
I decided to tell the truth.
"Hey Lo, can I tell you something crazy?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure." Lo said, obviously worried for me.
"Well, you see... I can kinda.... read minds?" I said, ending it like a question.
Logan started to laugh.
"That was funny, Patton. But if you want me to tell the truth-" I cut him off.
"No, really. Remember that day that there was that deer in the middle in the road? And how after I told it to move it stared at me and ran?" I asked.
"Yes..." Logan said, unsure of where this was going.
"The deer told me that it wouldn't forget that, then it ran. And just a minute ago, I heard you wondering what I would like to eat for dinner, and I knew you didn't speak....." I trailed off.
"So... you really can read minds?" Logan asked, confused.
"Yes Lo. I have no reason to lie to you." I said, truthfully.
"Okay, what am I thinking right now?" Lo asked, testing me.
I doubt that he can hear this! Reading minds is something only in fiction books, Logan thought.
"Logan! I can read your mind! It's not only in fiction books!" I said.
"Uh... I didn't say that out loud..." Logan said.
"Yes, because as I've been saying I. Can. Read. Minds!" I said.
"Okay, I believe you now. So, where do you want to go for dinner?" Logan asked.
"Don't worry, I can cook." I said.Hey guys! Thank you for reading this! This is my first AU and I think I've done okay with it... (also, sorry Mary if Logan doesn't act like you would like him to... but suck it up!) so, yeah! I'll see y'all in the next Patton/Janus/Emile part...
