(OOOOooh. Spooky title, right?)
In the woods, a dark shape rushed past.
She had to get out to the clearing before "Moonhigh" as the wild cats had put it. The moon had almost reached its highest point, signalling her deadline.
She clutched her kits to her chest. The wild cats had said they would help her with her problem. She couldn't let Eagle find out she had kits.
He had asked for her to have kits for a long time and she had always said no. She would have told him a week ago but when she left her house and went over to the tree that they always met every night he pounced on her, gave her a scar on her flank, and told her that in a week, he would find her and kill her unless she agreed.
She had run away far into the forest that night.
That's when she met the wild cats.
Or the "Clan cats" as they called themselves.
She had told Rosestar, Whitefur, and Silverpaw everything. They had been so understanding. They had told her to meet them in this clearing before moon high in a weeks time and they would welcome her and her kits into their clan and hide her from Eagle.
She remembered when she first met Eagle. She had wandered out of her yard that night. She had spied a rabbit. She had tried to catch it but it had jumped out of her grasp. She had chased it for a few meters at least when Eagle caught it.
"Oh, was this yours?" he had asked. They had shared it and then he asked if he could see her again. She said yes and then they had met at that tree that Eagle had caught that rabbit every night from then on. Every single night when her house folk went on trips and forgot to hire a person to give her food. (which they often did.) Eagle would provide for her. On the last day of the month, he would catch her a huge rabbit and share it as when they first met. S
Suddenly a Huge shape lunged out of the shadows and pinned Rosa to the ground. Her kits got flung out of her paws and into a hidden clearing. The Large shape pinning Rosa didn't seem to notice. "E-eagle?" Rosa mowed.
"Rosa." Eagle hissed. " trying to run away. Stupid. Have you finally decided to take my offer and have kits with me?" Rosa hesitated. She wanted to say yes. She wanted to raise her kits together forever. But now she knew That Eagle was a murderous cat who would kill anyone that got in his way. Someone who would do anything for his ambition.
"No Eagle," Rosa said as bravely as she could. "I will not have kits with you." Eagle sighed. His muscles rippled under his glossy brown pelt.
"I feared you would say no Rosa," Eagle shook his head. He unsheathed his claws, and raised his paw above Rosa's neck.
Rosa's scream rang out through the forest.
Eagle dropped Rosas limp body, satisfied, and left.
Meanwhile, a Rose-coloured cat rose from the bushes into the hidden clearing with a small silver cat and a white cat behind her.
"Where is Rosa?" said the Rose-colored cat.
"I will look for her Rosestar." said the white cat and she disappeared into the bushes. A few moments later she emerged from the bushes, grief filling her eyes.
"No," said the small silver cat reading the white cat's eyes. "No. she can't be dead."
"I am afraid so Silverpaw." Rosestar mewed softly to the young silver cat. "Thank you for letting us know Whitefur." she said nodding to the white cat. "we shall perform the ritual even though she wasn't a clan cat yet."
"Wait!" Silverpaw yowled. "Her kits!" she pointed to two small kits squirming in the corner of the clearing.
"Robinfur lost her kits to a badger 10 sunrises ago," Rosestar said as she and Whitefur picked up the kits. "She will have milk to spare." they all trudged back to Thunderclan camp with heavy hearts.
"Silverpaw, it is late for a growing apprentice," Rosestar told Silverpaw. "Our apprentices need their strength. You too Whitefur."
they both walked to their dens.
"Robinfur?" Rosestar called into the nursery. "You here?"
"I am here Rosestar." called a glossy brown coloured she-cat with a red underbelly.
"Surely you've heard of Rosa?" said Rosestar.
"The kittypet who is supposed to come to our clan tonight?" Robinfur asked,
"Well, these are her kits," Rosestar said. "I need you to nurse them for me."
"But then that means..." Robinfur trailed off. "She is dead?"
Rosestar nodded sadly.
"Okay," Robinfur said. "I have plenty of milk to spare."
"What shall you name them?" Rosestar asked. "They have to have a name and I don't think Rosa gave them a name."
"I shall name this one Daykit." Said Robin fur nodding to the smallest kit. "And this one shall be Willowkit." She started nudged them to her belly.
"Should I tell them about their mother?" Robinfur asked.
"No," Rosestar answered. "No one shall tell them about their mother or their father. For all they know, they are clan-born and it shall stay that way."
(Sorry about the horrible writing. iw rote this a few years ago, and I realized a few days ago, "oh. I should put this on Wattpad."
