《5》- A SURPRISE WAS WAITING IN THE LIVING ROOM

"Surprise.", someone came from behing the couch.

"Oppa!", I ran and hugged Jaehyun.

"Woah, woah. You really missed me a lot didn't you?", he asked.

"I miss you like super super super.", I said tears welling up on my eyes.

I really missed him so much and it makes me really emotional because of his sudden appearance. Jaehyun oppa is a kind, sweet, caring, and selfless older brother. I wonder why haven't got a girlfriend yet until now. He was old enough that he had served military starting from two years ago and now, he's finally back.

"Yah, dont tell me you're gonna cry.", he said in a soothing tone.

"And I also bought you your favorite pork rinds.", he said. I instantly cheered up but the tears of joy cant stop easily.

"Where's eomma and appa?", I asked.

"They left a short message for you on the kitchen table. Read it.", he said.

'Jiyeon-ah, your mom and I went to the supermarket but still we hope you get back by 6 in the evening as you promised. Send us a text message when you read this.

"And they dont know Im here. Im sure mom would be more emotional and probably dad's gonna ask me tonight to drink beer with him.", he chuckled.

I left a text message for mom and dad saying that I am already home and got back safely.
Suddenly, I heard a rumbling sound. It took me a while to realize it.

"Baegopa.", I said.
(TRANS: Im hungry)

"Well, Im kinda hungry too. Lets eat!", he said, then, we prepared our plates.

But before we were going to have our first bite, the doorbell rang and I heard mom and dad calling.

"Wait, Ill hide. Dont tell them.", he whispered.

I opened the door and there was mom greeting as I do the same while dad picked up two bags of different products from the supermarket.

"Mom and dad, I have a surprise for you.", I smiled.

"Mwo?", dad asked.
(TRANS: What?)

"Ta-da!", Jaehyun said which surprised mom and dad. He was right, mom would be so emotional if she sees him.

"Wow, Jaehyun. You look more handsome and healthier than before. You have also a better body shape.", mom said.

I could already tell that his body form has changed ever since he went to the military. So, I thought the military training was difficult.

"Are you gonna ask him if he has gotten a girlfriend?", I said with a teasing tone.

"Right. Do you have any girlfriend now?", mom asked.

"Yah, Soohyun how do I get a girlfriend when in fact, I was in the military.", he whined and gave me a 'i'll get a revenge later' look.

I just laughed at how funny his expression was.

"By the way, eomma, appa, are you hungry?", Jaehyun asked since the clock showed it was already dinner time.

"Oh right, we actually kinda are.", dad answered.

"I bought Soohyun's favorite pork rinds from the restaurant near us.", he said.

"Mmmm, it still tastes the same way like before.", mom said.
