Claire's POV
September 5th, 2019
9:30 a.m.

I wasn't awake.

Not yet.

But I was awake, and I know it doesn't make any sense.

My eyes opened as doctors milled about outside of the room. I took in the surroundings as I laid there in the hospital bed.

Wait, hospital bed?

I bolted upright and looked frantically around the room. A heart monitor machine was hooked up to me. I could see the drip and the IV extending to my arm. What happened to me to be in so much trouble?

And that's when it hit me. That stupid spider.

"More like stupid me." I said with a pained chuckle.

I brought my hand up to my head to wipe away the hair in my face, but instead of wiping it away, my hand passed right through me.

"What the-?" My voice was cut off when a sudden scream came from the room next door to mine.

The weird part was that no one seemed to notice the scream.

"Hello?" I asked, crawling out of the hospital bed. I wasn't connected to the machines now, but I'm reality I was.

I looked back at the bed and saw my body laying on the bed.

'So then if I'm not walking with my body, am I walking with my mind?' I thought curiously as I began to make my way towards the scream.

I walked out of the room and into the hallway. No one seemed to stop me. I then proceeded to walk into the next room.

I stood at the doorway, my hands pressing against my mouth. I could feel the tears sting my eyes.

Keith was on the hospital bed. His body laying on it while his mind stared at it in shock and fear.

"K-Keith?" I whispered. His dark brown hair stuck up awkwardly as he whipped his head around and saw me.

He ran towards me and wrapped his arms around my non-existent body, but his arms didn't pass through me. I wrapped my arms around him as well. We stood there for a few minutes before I spoke.

"Keith, what happened? How did we get here?" I asked, looking at him. We were about the same height, so it wasn't that hard to look him in the eyes.

Suddenly, his hand came out of nowhere and smacked me across the face. I was startled and just stared at him.

"HOW COULD YOU BE SO STUPID?!?!" Keith shrieked, "DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH MOM AND DAD WORRIED WHEN YOU DIDN'T COME HOME?!?!? THEY CALLED THE POLICE!!!!" I never seen Keith so mad, and that was saying something. He usually gets mad easily, but I could tell this was bottled up inside of him. For how long, I don't know.

"Keith, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have went into the lab by myself. But I got so curious and I couldn't help myself!" I yelled back, but not as loud as he did.

"And nearly die in the process???? I thought you were smarter than this??? And you know what? You nearly died! And I nearly died as well because the SPIDER was still running about!!! And now we are stuck in the realm where we can't even talk to people!" Keith shot back, tears shining in his eyes. What have I done?

"Keith....I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking. I should've been more careful. But we have to stick together. This is the only way we can get out of this mess." I said, squeezing his shoulders lightly.

"Yeah, the mess you got both of us into." He mumbled before looking over at his body.

I followed his gaze and spotted his hand, which was wrapped up in a white cast. I then looked back at him.

"It bit you too?" I asked him quietly before bringing him into a hug. I then began to cry. Not only did I probably mess up my brain because of the poison, but now Keith's brain was on the line too. What have I done?

"Why would I be here if I wasn't bitten?" He asked before going silent, "Mom and Dad are probably so worried." He whispered.

We stood there for a few minutes, just hugging each other before Keith began to talk again.

"So how did it happen?" He asked. I told him most of it, but I couldn't remember falling onto the floor.

"The last thing I remembered was seeing some succulents that were on the window sill when I collapsed. What about you?" I asked. We were now casually sitting on the floor of his hospital room.

"Well, after arriving at the Lab with your boyfriend, we found you and he called 911. Once the EMT's came and began to put you on the stretcher, I was beginning to have a panic attack, and that's when the spider bit me. Everything after that is fuzzy." He said as he leaned against the wall, his legs laying in front of him.

I nodded and stared across the room. Just lost in thought. So if we are walking around with our minds, are our bodies okay?

"You know what kind of sucks about this place?" Keith said as he shifted a bit.

"Hm?" I asked, not really listening.

"We can't listen to any music." He stated, glancing over at me.

That's when we both gasped in pain. Not because of us not being able to listen to music, but because something was happening to us.

"K-Keith, get back to your body." I said hoarsely, clutching my chest in pain. Never thought I would say that sentence in my life.

He nodded slowly before getting up and slowly walking to his bed. Once he laid back down and, I don't know, merged, with his body, I slowly got up. I was still clutching my chest when I stumbled out of his room and went into mine.

I slowly went to my body and laid down in my bed.

Then everything went dark.

1,004 words.

Hope y'all enjoyed this chapter! At first, I know it's kind of weird to read, but I think it got better throughout the chapter.

I have nothing else to say, so I'll probably write the next chapter.
