Charlie's POV
September 5th, 2019
2:25 a.m.

I sat in the waiting room, my hands fidgeting a bit as I tried to stay awake. Claire's parents sat near me. I felt like I let them down because of what happened to Keith.

When Keith collapsed, I decided to ride with him. I should've been watching more closely, especially when we knew the spider was still out of the cage.

His symptoms weren't nearly as bad as Claire's, but that's because the EMT's were there anyways. However, he still wasn't in the clear. Neither was Claire.

I began to doze off when a doctor came into the waiting room. I jumped a bit as I found him standing over the three of us.

"Are they going to be okay???" Panicked Claire's Mom. I could tell that she was on edge and was scared out of her mind.

"Yes and no. We made it just in time for your daughter, as well as your son. However, they are still unconscious, and we don't know when they will get up. The venom made it to their brain, but we've been giving them an antidote to the bite, according to Professor Lynn. They should be awake within a day or so." The doctor explained. I could see Mrs. Andersen relax a bit, but I could tell she wasn't going to calm down just yet.

'Funny. I don't remember being given the antidote when I got bitten. Then again, I was unconscious for a few days.' I thought to myself, twiddling my thumbs nervously.

"Can we see them, please?" Claire's mom asked impatiently. I know one thing for certain. You can't be caught in between a mother and her children.

The doctor shook his head, "I'm sorry, but not now. We still have to run some tests on them. Come back at 5:30 and you can see them. Besides, it looks like you all need rest." He said, giving us all a soft look.

I didn't look back at him. Instead, my mind began to wander.

'Will they end up being like me when they wake up? I knew I should've stayed at the Labs longer. We wouldn't be in this mess if I stayed.' I thought harshly.

We began to walk out of the hospital. Before Claire's parents left, I talked to them.

"I'm sorry for all of this. I should've stayed with Claire. And I should've been more careful with Keith." I said, holding back tears.

Claire's mom looked at me before giving me a big hug, "It's not your fault hun. We all know that Claire can get very curious." She said with a sad smile.

I smiled back at her before turning to go to my car. Once I was inside, I let it all out. Tears flowed freely from my eyes. I now have to live with the thought that they are going to be like me.

I began to drive home, which probably wasn't a good idea in the current state I was in. But, I had to get home somehow.

I lived on the outside of town. We had a large house, like a place where celebrities lived. My dad is super rich and is able to afford this place.

I parked the car outside the house before going inside. I unlocked the door and opened it. I then locked it once I was inside and headed to my room. I had to think.

I locked my bedroom door once I was inside. I then proceeded to change out of my clothes and crash onto my bed. I was exhausted, but I just couldn't fall asleep.

I flopped over onto my back and brought my hand to my eye level. I just had to have hope and faith that they wouldn't turn out like me.

I began to doze off again, but before I fell asleep, I used my willpower and clenched my hand into a fist. I remember feeling myself fill with dread when a flame began to glow on my hand.

677 words.

I wanted to leave it off here for tonight so I could add suspense ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

And now I shall begin to write the next chapter 😂
