Lily's POV
I was sitting with my friends Marlene McKinnon and Alice Prewett at the Gryffindor table. A few places down from us, the Marauders were seated. I was still shocked that JAMES POTTER had been made Head Boy. I looked down at my food and ate slowly. Feeling someone's eyes on me, I turned, spotting James looking at me from where he was seated. He smiled at me and waved. I waved back and then looked to my food. He and I had made a truce towards the end of last year to be civil to each other, only because Remus was our mutual friend and because Sirius and Marlene had gotten together. We weren't exactly friends but we simply acknowledged each other's presence with a nod or a wave when the person was present. Remus had asked us to call each other by our first names and we did so, simply to satisfy Remus. After the feast, Professor McGonagall called James and I to meet her after everyone left the Hall. Once the Hall was empty, she gestured for us to follow her. She led us up to the 7th floor and to a portrait of a knight. "Password," he asked, in a low voice. "You two will have to decide a password. I will leave you two to decide." Professor McGonagall said and then walked off. "Can we make the password Gryffindor?" James asked, with a hopeful look. I shook my head and his face fell into a pout. I rolled my eyes and said, "That's too easy. Maybe something like 'Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus'?" He nodded in agreement and said the password to the portrait. The portrait swung forward to reveal a beautiful common room. It was extremely similar to the Gryffindor common room but it had two dark polished desks, a fireplace which had a merry fire burning in it and a couch was facing the fireplace. There was a coffee table separating the fireplace and the couch. Towards the left, there were two staircases leading up to our dormitories. There was a door on the left of the fireplace which led outside to a balcony. I was immediately drawn to that door. I opened it and stepped out, taking a deep breath of the fresh air. It was still warm outside, since the summer had recently ended. I went over to the railing and leaned on it, looking out to the grounds. I saw Hagrid going towards The Forbidden Forest with Fang. I spotted quite a few owls flying over the forest. I heard a noise on my right and turned to see James standing there, looking out to the forest. He turned his head towards me and smiled. It was a genuine smile, not his signature smirk or his mischievous grin. It was a smile that seemed to make you want to smile back. So I smiled back at him. Then we both turned back to the beautiful scenery in front of us and stood there for a long time, in comfortable silence.A/N: Ah...how romantic!! So, I decided to make this into a fully fledged multi-chapter story and not the on-shot series I was planning at first. Hope y'all liked it!! Ciao!!
