Holding hands

It was a breezy summer evening where the only thing you could hear was the sqwaking of the seagulls in the distant town.
Cody and Sam had just been for the most romantic meal on the seafront. A solo violinist played romantic melody's whilst the odor of freshly cooked Italian food filled the air of the restaurant.

Today was Sam and Cody's 1st anniversary and Sam wanted it to be perfect. He couldn't explain how much he loved Cody in words so he chose actions instead. He hired the whole restaurant so that they could dine in peace. He chose where they sat, over looking the waves that crashed and tumbled upon the shore. He chose what songs the violinist would play, classic versions of their favourite songs from the 90s. However the best choice he made that night was taking his handsome boyfriend for a late night stroll on the beach.

After a memorable night of fine dining and reminiscing on events of the year, it only felt right to end the night on a high as well. The two young lovers walked onto the beach from the restaurant, leaving their shoes there so that they could feel the grains of sand slip through their toes. They were both holding hands. Their fingers beautifully intertwined and with every few seconds, one of the two would squeeze their hands just to let the other know that they were just living in the moment and weren't lost in their own thoughts. The discussions on the walk that night hadn't been about themselves or their relationship, they had left those topics of conversation at the restaurant. These discussions were about the beauty that was among them. It was difficult to admire other kinds of beauty when the most beautiful thing you had ever know was standing next you but they both had a go.

" Sam look at the family of birds nesting in that tree, isn't it just amazing!"
Sam had a little chuckle at Cody's statement, seeing that it came a little out of the blue.
" What's so amazing about it baby"
" Just nature. How everything works out. Those birds have a family and they chose to live in that tree together and they are all happy! It all seems like a coincidence but it can't be. It's just too perfect"
Sam decided to take a minute to think about what Cody had just said because it was right. Everything around him right now was perfect. The quiet beach, the trees moving in the light breeze, the boy standing next to him. He had come into a realisation and was in a total state of euphoria.

During mid-thought, Sam felt a light squeeze to his hand bringing him back into the beautiful reality around him.
"Hey boo, you ok?"Cody questioned.
It was at that moment that Sam stopped in his tracks and turned around to face Cody, holding his other hand.

"I love you Cody. You are perfect and I'm so blessed to have you in my life"
"I love you too Sam"
And with that the both leant in and kissed passionately on the seafront.
When they parted, Sam gestured for them to sit down on the sand, where Cody would rest his head on his boyfriends chest. They sat there, sleeping for the rest of the night.
That was perfection.
