Gavin was putting out a cigarette as he strolled casually into the precinct. Immediately he knew something was wrong- everyone was staring at his desk. He couldn't see what was going on past a few officers in front of him, so he shoved them aside to see why his workspace was the center of attention.

"The fuck is going on-"
Someone had cleaned his desk. All of the wrappers and empty coffee cups that used to litter his workspace were now placed in the trash can directly underneath his computer. His pencils and office supplies had all been neatly organized, and the surface of the desk was now dust and dirt free.

"Oh fuck this!"
He growled through his teeth.

"I swear god I'm gonna kill whoever did th-"
Suddenly a hand was placed on his shoulder.

"Good morning, Detective Reed-"

"JESUS CHRIST! Connor you scared the shit outta me you plastic motherfucker-!" But when he turned around, he understood why Connor's voice sounded.. off.

You're not Connor...

In front of him stood an Android who looked somewhat similar to Connor in facial features, but was taller, and wearing a different uniform. On the right side of the jacket, white letters stood out on dark fabric. RK900.

"Good morning, Detective Reed. I am RK900, I was sent by CyberLife to-"
The red-faced detective quickly cut him off.

"No no no- I know where this is going-"

"I have been sent by CyberLife to accompany you in the DPD as your partner."

No way.

"Nope. No! Fuck that!"
The angry detective shook his head.

"Excuse me?"
The RK900 tilted it's head, confused at the detective's response.

"Go back to CyberLife or whatever- I don't need a partner, much less fucking terminator!" Not getting a response, he tried again.

"Go away! Shoo! Leave you stupid-"

"Reed! RK900! In my office, now!"
Fowler called to the newly partnered pair.

"Fowler, I think you made a mistake-"
The detective begins to say, but is promptly cut off by the grumpy captain.

"No, Reed. You're the one making the mistake by being so stubborn!"

"But its a fucking Android! You could have at least given me a real partner, not some Rent-A-Cop plastic bastard!"

Penguin? Is he.. making fun of my uniform?

"Listen, I'm not working with Connor 2.0 over here, so forget it!" He turns to leave, but Fowler interjects.

"Then you can hand in your badge."

"Are you kidding me?!" The detective whips around, his face red with anger. "Y'know what- fine! Fine! I'll work with the damn thing!" Gavin quickly stormed out of the room, stomping angrily back to his work station.

I watched him leave, and then turned back to my new boss as he began to speak again.

"Sorry about him, he has some sort of grudge against Androids, not sure why." The tired man shrugged, glancing at Reed through the glass before turning his gaze back to me.

"That is quite alright, I understand that working with an Android can be upsetting for some, but I assure you we will settle our differences and I will make sure he causes no problems to the other officers in his anger towards me."

"What about you?"

I tilted my head. "What about me?"

"Well, aren't you pissed off at him too? You haven't done anything and he debated losing his job with me just so he didn't have to work with you-" the man chuckles quietly to himself.

"With all due respect, it's not as though he can hurt my feelings. I am only a machine."

And with that, I said goodbye to Fowler, and walked back to my new partner's desk.

I can't believe they partnered me up with a fucking Android! And why me?! I work just fine by myself, not having to babysit some computer ken doll bastard-

My thoughts were interrupted as I spotted the RK900's reflection behind mine on my computer screen. I turned around, glaring at the plastic prick who was towering over me.

"The fuck do you want?!"

"Would you mind if I took the empty work station next to yours? It would be most efficient for us to be in close proximity to each other, but if you are uncomfortable with my presence I can-"

"I don't give a shit where you sit, Toaster."
I interrupted. "Just leave me the fuck alone!"

It nodded, and took a seat at the open desk, turning the computer on and beginning it's work. I was relieved that the stupid thing finally stopped trying to talk to me, but also mad at myself for not telling it to sit somewhere else. Now I'd have to look at him, a constant reminder that I was partnered with a fucking Android.
