The golden age(7th to 16th century )  know as the dark age in west. This age let to many inventions that we still use today. We don't usually learn about the inventions that took place in this era or even about this era.
All start after the death of our prophet Muhammad (pbh)
(We say peace be upon him or her to any of our prophets out of respect:) )
The during the first caliphate  which expanded from Spain to china including north africa, india, middle East,Easter europe. Muslims ruled half of the world it is really shocking to see that mulims ruled half of the world as they weren't as strong's as the Romans
But as per as our scriptures it was a     Prophecy made by our prophet Muhammad (pbh) that the muslims will rule Constantinople which is modern day Istanbul Turkey which was ruled by the Byzantine Empire.
Later during the caliphate it was conquered by the Ottoman Empire. Historians get shocked about this as it was impossible for muslims to ever fight the Romans but alhumdulila they were able to conquer half of this World and all the Jews,
Christians lived in peace under the muslim rule
Through this trading started  as trading started so did the curiosity to get  more knowlege increased
Many muslim scholars from different backgrounds gathered and translated scripts in arabic.
(Bhagdad,Cairo, Damascus)
Through this started the golden age where muslims were involved in different inventions that led to many of the things that we see and use today. Most of these scientists were where religious.

You might be wondering then what happened to all this what happened to muslims and there creative thinking it's hard to explain but many say that it's because of the attack on the both sides  mongali invasion in iraq, syria, Persian and crusaders in Spain, turkey, Palestine this lead to loss of many books, manuscripts many library's where destroyed
During these golden ages muslims were know as bookly people (hehe maybe I made  up that word). Most of the knowledge of the muslims was stolen by the Europeans through  which they got there europen Renaissance.
