Sorry this isn't a full chapter I have a lot going on right now but I promise I will finish this book and won't abandon it. I know how annoying it is when you become invested in a story and the writer never finishes it. Thanks for your patience :)

Clary POV

"Clary" Elijah called, making me turn my head. It had been a few weeks since the funeral.... my funeral.

My recovery was going well and I was excited. Not just because I was healing, but because I knew what Elijah was about to say

We discussed earlier that I could tell Alec I was still alive. It was meant to happen just after the funeral but due to the Santorini situation the press kept popping up. Elijah thought it would be best to wait until everything died down so we could be discrete and I wouldn't get caught

I looked at Elijah "Tomorrow" he smiled "Tomorrow you can see him"

That was all I needed to hear to feel the weight lifted off my shoulders. To finally find a glimmer of happiness in all this. But then I realised...

Now I had to figure out how to tell him. What do you say to your husband in a situation like this?

'Surprise, I'm back from the dead'

This wasn't The Vampire Diaries. It wasn't exactly normal. I didn't want to freak him out, but I guess that's inevitable. And how much time would I get with him? A few hours? A day? One more night?

"Elijah" I called as he was halfway out the door "how much time..."

"Don't worry Clary we thought you might ask about this and we've worked it all out" Elijah began "Alec has been told that there was error with some paperwork to do with your...death and funeral. He's been told that it has to be sorted in the main branch of the funeral directors in Florida, and because of the inconvenience they'll send a car to take him to the airport and travel is paid for. Our driver will bring him here, and obviously instead of signing some fake papers that's when you come in"

"Does that sound okay?" Elijah asked and I nodded. They definitely thought this through. I thought he was done but he continued

"And because he thinks he's going to Florida he'll have to stay overnight so you get one night and almost two full days with him"

"Thank you, thank you, thank you" I hugged Elijah so hard I thought I heard a rib crack

"No problem Clary. Just remember, we are trying to catch Santorini as fast as we can, but we don't know how long it will take. Make the most of the time you get with Alec"

I nodded and thanked him again before sitting down on my bed, and taking a deep breath.

Tomorrow was going to be interesting.

Alec POV

I stood by the bed packing a small overnight bag for Florida. On top everything that was happening the funeral directors had made some stupid mistake. And now I had to go all the way to Florida just to fix it

I didn't want to leave my family right now, but I had no choice. I angrily stuffed a pair of socks into the bag before zipping it up and throwing it on the floor

I sat on the edge of the bed trying to keep myself calm, before hearing the click of the front door.

"Hey, it's us" Izzy called and I heard the mumble of Simon's voice too. She was staying over to watch the kids while I wasn't here

I walked into the living room where Tom was playing with his toys and Flo was sitting in Maddy's lap, having her hair plaited

"You okay?" Izzy looked at me and I nodded "all packed?"

I nodded again

"When do you leave?" Simon asked

I checked my watch "about half an hour"

Flo hopped off Maddy's lap and ran towards me. The two new braids in her swinging with each step she took

"Daddy do you have to go?" She gave me the sad puppy dog eyes and I sighed

"It's only for one night" I picked her up and she wrapped her little arms around my neck "I'll be back before you know it"

"Okay, fine" she huffed, resting her head on my shoulder

"Are you going to see mommy?" She asked "are you going to heaven?"

"Not exactly" I replied "I'm going to have a word with the people who helped us say goodbye to mommy. Remember that?"

She nodded

"They made a few mistakes that daddy needs to take care of. But nothing you need to worry about"

"What kind of mistakes?"

"Just some boring paperwork" I assured her "okay? Don't worry about anything"

She nodded and I kissed her forehead

"Aunt Izzy and Uncle Simon are going to make sure you have lots of fun tonight. I whispered

"So I can stay up past my bedtime?" She asked

"Nice try babygirl" I smiled

She huffed again, making her cute little moody face. She definitely had Clary's stubbornness

Clary POV

I was pacing up and down like crazy

"Clary your making me dizzy"

"Sorry Elijah" I sighed and stood still, instead tapping my foot. I couldn't stop twitching. Alec would be here in less than 15 minutes

I knew what I wanted to say but I didn't know if I could. If the words would leave my mouth. If I would just stop and stare at him instead. Memorising every detail of him in case this was the last time I saw him.

"Clary" Elijah snapped me out of my trance

"It's time"
