cloud bank

Dear friend,

The feelings that you couldn't explain;
So selective with risk-averse words,
yet you couldn't truly express the pain.

"It is like someone dug a metal hook
in my chest," you said with darkened eyes,
hollow, I remember the way you looked.

Nobody understood, minds were blank.
But I did. The recognition you didn't notice.
Unseen like the sun behind a cloud bank.

If only I had come to your aid, took a risk.
But I was too shy to talk to a perfect person.
You didn't see yourself that way I think.

Because now, while I'm still here decaying
into stardust, you kicked the black bucket.
And I wonder if it's lonely up there in the sky.

Goodbye,
Your friend
