Cattie's POV
Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.
I realize that I'm not the luckiest, in fact I'm very unlucky, but I am surrounded by people who care about me. I may not have a blood family, but I do have a family that loves and supports me and for that, I am eternally grateful.
After school I changed out for rugby then walked to the field where we practice. The National Rugby Final is coming up so we have had practice for almost three hours everyday. The NRF is the biggest rugby tournament we play in and it's crawling with college scouts, so we have to practice hard. It's in the times like these where you realize what type of athlete you are; the one who plays just for the sake of getting in shape and having something to do, the one who is forced to play, the one who doesn't care, the one who plays just to say that they do, or the one who is determined to be the best and will work every single day to achieve that goal. That person is me. Also considering the fact that rugby is the only thing I have left.
"Aye guys guess what?" Jag yelled then everyone turned around. "Cougar's asking Lenae Turner to homecoming!"
Then everyone started to holler at him.
"How are you gonna ask her?" I asked.
"I don't want to make it a big deal or make it super romantic or anything like that because I know she doesn't like that kind of thing, so I'll just keep it simple and ask her 'hey will you go to homecoming with me?'" Cougar explained.
"Who are you guys going to homecoming with?" Bennett asked then everyone named who they were going with.
"How are you and Niall?" Jag asked.
"We're great almost four years strong on February 15th." I told them. "I'm honestly surprised we made it this far because I know I'm not an easy person to be close friends with let alone a relationship."
"Well no one is easy to be in a relationship or friends with. Those things aren't easy. They take work and commitment and loyalty and for someone to be in it for that long is special." Jasper explained.
That's very very true. No relationship is easy; everyone has their flaws and things that are hard to work with. You fight with each other, you'll get annoyed by each other, but throughout all the anger and frustration you have with that person you still love them and have amazing moments and memories with that one person that makes all the anger, frustration, and annoyance all worth it because they're the one who makes you unconditionally happy.
"Why do you think we have stayed brothers with you all these years? It's because we care about you so much, you're our sister and we protect and love our sister even though we have gone through crazy shit, there's no one else we would rather do it with. We love you CJ." Ricky told me.
"We would all die for each other CJ, this, this right here is what a family is. You guys mean way too much to me. I'll bring a knife to gunfight to protect you guys, family over everything," Andrew said and everyone clapped in agreement.
"I love you guys too. Now during the final we're kicking ass right?" I asked changing the subject.
"We are gonna win that thing and be the best in the country!" Marshall yelled then everyone hollered.
"Alright everyone settle down," Coach Mike said. "Now we have a tough matches against Brooklyn, Florida, Oregon, and California so we need to go hard today and take it seriously, we're in this to win it. I wanna see you guys take home that National Trophy title and be the best in the U. S. I want all of you to go 100% today alright?"
