I have always considered myself an advocate for the protection of children, I originally planned to go into medicine but have since set my sights on becoming an educator.

Children are my greatest passion in life there is something about them that inspires me and makes me want to be a better person, that is why I can't stay silent on this case, Katera Jenkins (Barker) was a one year old victim of a premeditated crime.

She was the victim of her adoptive father who was objective to adopting her to begin with, he expressed his destain to family and friends he did not want this young girl to be a member of his family, her biological mother could sense something was wrong she confided in the adoption agency but was ignored.

She wanted to give her child a life she couldn't provide instead her child was handed off to the man who would cut her life short, On May 23rd her adoptive father was trusted with the simple task of dropping his two children off at school and daycare couldn't be any simpler right?

What could possibly go wrong? Everything could go wrong, her father claimed to be exhausted and running late this might be believable if it weren't for all the inconsistencies in his story, "Matt claims to be exhausted that day and running late and decided to drive his older daughter to school and double back and drop the baby off at daycare."

"Matt's plan didn't seem logical, considering that he claimed to be in a rush. The extra stops on his route would have taken much longer. Instead of dropping his daughter off at daycare, he arrives home phones a uber and leaves little Katera to die a slow and painful death."

" Later that evening, when Matt's wife Jenny went to collect the children, she learns that little Katera never made it to daycare. Frantic, she calls Matt, and he tells her, "I might have left her in the care." Katera died strapped to a car seat, with the windows rolled up, it was over 100 degrees in that car."

The most infuriating part is this "A week after Katera's funeral, Matt went on an island vacation, to "Celebrate" her life. But in reality, the inconvenience of Katera, for Matt is over." According to sources investigators wanted to charge him but due to political connections they could not.

"The Davidson county police wanted to bring charges against Matt, but because of his political connections,. The District attorney's office declined to charge him."

I for one will not sit idly by when I can do something, I have signed petitions and written emails I'm writing this for anyone who wants to do the same if there is a protest than I'll be there.

I think it's important to note from the conclusion of the investigation it's believed to be a racially driven crime this has also been recognised by the adoption agency, you'll find their statement on the petitions site including statements from her biological parents and the link to the go fund me page, I don't think we should ignore the fact that it was because of the colour of her skin that she died, because it proves how dangerous intolerance can be.

Please refrain from debating or making negative comments, we aren't here to argue we are here to do whatever we can to help a little girl who deserves justice, honestly I am nervous writing this because I'm not a controversial person but silence isn't an option when it comes to human rights and justice , people in the past sent messages about unfollowing me and to them I have this to say.

I unconditionally love each and every child like they are my own and it isn't any different for Katera, I appreciate your patience and hope you understand why this is important to me and I hope it's equally important to you.
