(Y/N) hummed to herself wistfully as she prepped a basket of necessities the corners of her lips curled into a small smile, "I see you're preparing to travel up the mountain." Her father said watching her from the sliding door a look of disapproval on his face, "I am." She replied sternly avoiding her father's gaze.
She fondly reminisced about a pair of vibrant burgundy eyes that glowed a beautiful shade of red, the death of the head of the the family, Tanjuro Kamado had taken a toll on the Kamado family things were never the same after their father died.
The Kamado family's misfortune became the hot gossip of their town he was the sole provider for their family when the head of their household passed the duty fell on the shoulders of the eldest son, Tanjiro would work himself down to the bone in order to provide an income for his family it was barely a liveable amount but it put food on the table, (y/n) watched him work hard to sell coal in the village when tanjiro wasn't selling coal he repairing doors or floorboards, she admired the kamado family because no matter how little they had they were always grateful and happy.
(Y/n) was the only child of one of the wealthiest families in Japan, she'd use her weekly allowance granted by her father to provide what she could for the Kamado family, she'd patch their worn-down clothes, prepare them sweet treats and use the seamstress skills taught to her by her grandmother to sew them new garments,
She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear skilfully applying a light blush to her cheeks, she raked her fingers through her thick locks pulling her hair into an elegant up-do pinning her hair up with a floral clip.
Tanjiro perked up his burgundy eyes surveyed the crowd searching for the (h/c) haired girl in the sea of faces, he cocked an eyebrow noticing her hovering in front of a store window she was admiring a hairpin on display in the window.
He quietly slipped into the store sliding a hand in his pocket his hand rummaged through his pocket until he pulled a small amount of money out of the pocket of his hand me down worn out Haori, "I'd like that hairpin you have in your window." He told the shopkeep pointing to the window display, he carefully placed the money on the counter bouncing on his feet excited to give her the hairpin, he had intended to use the spare change to buy some clothes but he thought this was a better use of his hard-earned money.
