NOTES:

I changed Brise's name to Teansi (which is an unholy amalgamation of Japanese, Chinese, and Korean words).

In case you didn't know, I made an extended version because Season 3 had a few changes to the series which may cause some plot holes in the original "Tale of Our Love" (e.g. Ring-Ring's father).

Once upon a time, there was a little mermaid.

"She was one of the many princesses of the ocean, accompanied by her sisters and her father."

But she wasn't satisfied with living in the sea.

The little mermaid wanted to explore the shore; the world of the humans.

One day, she rescued a drowning prince from his death.

The prince, however, never knew who she was.

The little mermaid fell in love with him, and so her desire to become a human became stronger.

She went to the sea witch, and asked for a pair of human legs in exchange for her beautiful voice.

But there was another consequence.

The prince must fall in love with her in three days, or else she will become sea foam.

And so the little mermaid became a human.

Everytime she walked, it felt like she was walking on knives.

The prince, kind as he was, welcomed her into his castle.

Unfortunately for the little mermaid, he had already fallen for another.

The little mermaid's heart was broken into pieces.

On the day before his wedding, the little mermaid's two sisters approached her on the ship they were in and gave her a knife, having sacrified their hair to the sea witch for it.

"Kill the prince with this knife, then you can be free."

The little mermaid accepted the knife, slowly approaching the prince in his sleep.

But her love for him was too much for her to take his life.

In the end, she threw herself off of the ship instead, landing on the deep waters below.

She was brought to heaven by the angels above, and no one ever heard of her again.

Teansi wasn't fond of that ending. How tragic it was, for the little mermaid to not end up with the person who she risked her life for.

Then, an idea made itself present inside of her mind. An ending like this was far too tragic, and certainly not what people would expect from a fairytale. Fairytales always ended with a happy ending, with the princesses getting together with their prince, or rescuing the world from evil, freeing themselves from the cage they were trapped in. The story that she was reading was not that kind of fairytale. If she could change the ending of this fairytale to what she wanted it to be, how would it be like? Brise continued to create the retelling of the tale inside her head.

The sea witch was the girl who the prince fell in love with, having hypnotized him with the use of the little mermaid's voice.

One of the little mermaid's friends found out about this, and they stopped the wedding in time.

Instead of turning into sea foam, the little mermaid turned back into a mermaid when the third sun set.

The sea witch captured her, wanting to take her soul.

But the prince was there to save her, defeating the sea witch in the process.

The little mermaid's father the permission to become a human.

The little mermaid and the prince lived happily ever after.

Now that ending was a happier one. Teansi closed the small book of fairytales that her eyes were reading for the past few minutes, and allowed the cool breeze of Heaven to pass through her hair. As she thought about it more and more, she shared the same fascination with the human world. Being a goddess was neat and all, but at the same time, it was lonely. She could never relate to any one of her fellow gods and goddesses, as they were all much older than her anyway.

She wondered... if she would ever find her prince.

And if she did, would they get the happy ending, as she wrote?
