- Him -
*April 2, a year (and 17 hours) from present year*
I stare at her sleeping face, like I did so many times before. I know, it makes me look like some kind of freak. But I can't help it.
She's too damn beautiful for her own good and she doesn't even know.
The sunset rays touch her face and I control the urge to caress her cheek.
"Hey." I distract myself by calling her out.
She didn't budge. As expected.
"Hey", I say louder and nudge her with my free hand. Slap, slap, tap, poke, slap.
"Mmmm", she swats my hand away. I didn't stop. "Stahpet", she mumbles.
"We're already here, dimwit." I turn right to park and turn the engine off. I look at her still-sleeping form. I chuckle. She's the only one who can sleep for a ten-minute ride.
"If I get to the cinemas before you, you're paying for my popcorn."
She immediately jumped off the car and we both raced to the lifts. I try to push her away from the elevator, to no avail, and when the doors closed, she smiled her evil smile while asking, "Did you lock your car, old man?"
I grumble angrily.
**************************************
"Shut up."
She proceeded to hum loudly and I have to clap my hand on her mouth so we won't cause a scene.
She suddenly licked my palm and I jumped off in surprise.
"What the--" I look at her in shock. She even has the gall to smile smugly.
"I'm just too happy that I have free tickets, popcorn, and dinner, all because someone left his car open and his phone inside."
I slump on my seat as I had to go back to the car twice.
First, I forgot to lock it. And second, as she reminded me again, I forgot my phone.
"Whatever." I sip on her soda.
"Sore loser." She snatched the cup out of my hand and sipped loudly.
I focus my attention back to the screen, but it wasn't even two minutes when I find my thoughts drifting back to her. Just like how it has been recently.
I sneaked a glance, after a while, and saw her brows drawn, like how she looks when she tries to make sense of something.
I smile and think of all the other quirks I am slowly finding out in the course of getting to know her.
The way she scrunches up her nose just before a sneeze.
The way her eyes shine when she's enthralled and enthusiastic about something.
The way she wouldn't stop talking when she's excited.
The way her laugh sounds when she's really happy.
The way she tries to hold back her tears when watching films about dogs or cats.
The way she would complain about the people she deals with, but still be nice to them.
The way her kindness just seeps out and infects everyone she's with.
The way she smiles at me. A smile that's just for me, I think.
I shake my head and chuckle inwardly. I think I can answer the question that has been plaguing me since the day I saw her. What is this I'm feeling?
I think I'm fa--
A familiar soft tune chimed from the phone in my pocket. I grabbed it to turn it off when the name I didn't expect to see anymore popped on my screen.
Her. My first her.
