Mondays always drag on longer than necessary. Especially when one is stuck in a classroom with the dullest teacher in the entire school! The only reason Blair chose leisure and tourism was because she enjoyed travel, and it was the perfect opportunity to showcase her talent in photography. She didn't expect to write a five-thousand word essay almost every week.
Puffing out a sigh, Blair tapped her pen against her exercise book repeatedly, begging for time to speed up.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the bell pierced through her ears, jolting her into reality. Break time! Gathering up her belongings into her rucksack, Blair speed-walked into the hallway, eager to get her hand so those 50p blueberry muffins.
The line for snacks is always long, which honestly sucked, but Blair was happy to always receive a muffin that the kitchen staff hid under the counter, just for her. She didn't understand why, perhaps it was because she'd been buying the same thing since her first day of year seven, but she wasn't complaining.
Blair liked muffins.
Taking her muffin to a secluded table in the courtyard, Blair parked herself down and ripped open the packaging, waiting for her friends.
However, the person who sat opposite her was neither Jules, Cara, nor Sam.
Blair almost choked on her muffin when she saw Rachel grinning at her. She couldn't stop her own smile curving at her lips though.
"Hi," Rachel greeted, reaching over to steal a small piece of the blonde's snack and popped it in her mouth. "How was your weekend?" she asked politely.
"Better than I was expecting, actually." Conversation always seemed to flow smoothly between the two of them. It was different and new; Blair liked it. "I saw your brother, surprisingly."
Rachel scrunched up her nose in feigned disgust. "Gross," she jested with a little laugh, " I hope he was nice."
"Oh, he was very nice," Blair complimented. "Almost as nice as you." For once, Rachel was left speechless - Blair was rather proud of herself. The rebel gaped at her momentatily before grinning, teeth and all.
"Thanks!" Rachel's eyes sparkled like the ocean each and every time she smiles like that. Time seemed to slow as she gazed into them. She almost didn't hear her when she said, "wanna do something tonight?"
This time, Blair was lost words. "What?" she stuttered. Did she just ask what she thought she asked?
"You and me. At the Fair," Rachel clarified, her smile never once wavering. "What do ya say?"
Blair's mouth opened and closed a few times. Was she being serious right now? There was no way that Rachel just asked her that. It was impossible! In all honesty, she was planning on attending the Fair with her friends, like she does every year, anyway. So she couldn't go with Rachel even if she wanted to.
"Okay," came her reply, lips moving without her concent.
If possible, Rachel's smile grew even wider. "Cool." Honestly, Blair could watch her smile for hours. "Gimme your phone." No question asked, the photographer pulled out the mobile from her bag, keyed in her passcode, and handed it over to the footballer opposite her. Within seconds, Rachel gave the device back. "Now you have my number. You're welcome."
Blair let loose a chuckle. "You're a dork, yanno that?"
"Don't act like you don't love it," Rachel teased. It was true. She loved the connection they've developed in such a short period of time. She loved the way the tip of her tongue poked out when she's concentrating. She loved the softness in her eyes. She loved the way she says her name. She loved h-
