m/n slid his headphones up, covering his ears. he played some piano music, too upset to play anything else, and slid down the door. his hands went up to his mouth and covered it so his sobs wont be too loud.

his parents were fighting again.

the thirteen year old was always so heavily affected by their fights. raikuu always called him an empath. he felt their anger, their sadness and he was the one who suffered through it.

in his final year of junior high, he was relieved to hear he would be going to miyagi and living with his sister. he would be able to get away from all the drama going on in this wretched house.

he'd be able to watch her play volleyball again.

the gym was silent. nobody said a word as the volleyball hit the ground a rolled away. m/n's eyes widened significantly before tears welled up in them. "rai...kuu..?"

he stared down at his sister and her match from the stands. he watched as she fell to the side in pain as she received a particularly strong spike and hit her knee on the floor. he didn't know what else to do but watch. he couldn't do much else.

he was only thirteen.

before long, paramedics were at the scene and hoisted her onto a medical bed. her face was scrunched up in pain as she searched the crowd for someone. as her eyes landed on her little brother she mouthed; "don't worry. i'll be fine."

she wasn't.

her knee cap was shattered at the impact and she'll never be able to play volleyball ever again. the doctors said she'll be able to walk again in about six months time but what good is it if she can't play the sport that she loves?

a current age m/n, age fourteen, sat down at the desk in his room. the curtains were drawn back so he could see what he was writing as the moon shined in the dim room.

dear diary,

i joined the volleyball team today. i'm not sure what's so special about them, they're an odd bunch. there's gonna be a practice match on saturday, so i'll get raikuu to come watch with me. i know how much she misses volleyball but the most she can do now is watch.

oh well, she's calling me down now. i have to go eat another batch of her deadly meals. wish me luck, i hope i live another day.

sincerely, me
