WES

Wes is nervous, to say the least. Kurt's about to audition and his heart goes out to the boy. Kurt has never spoken a word to any of the other Warblers and now he's expected to sing his heart out in front of them all.

The Warbler's choir room is bursting with noise as Wes tries to quiet them down. It seems there is no need as the room falls silent as Kurt entered, standing up at the front.

Everyone stared at him, not believing their eyes. The boy who they've never heard so much as make a noise, is about to sing to them.

As the music started, all eyes are on Kurt, everyone waiting in anticipation to hear his voice.

Wes gives the boy an encouraging smile as he took a deep breath and began to sing.

Yeah, I'll tell you something
I think you'll understand
Then I'll say that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand

His voice was astonishing. From the moment he opened his mouth Wes (and everyone else, judging from their facial features) was spellbound.

Oh please, say to me
You'll let me be your man
And please, say to me
You'll let me hold your hand
Now let me hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
And when I touch you I feel happy
Inside
It's such a feeling that my love
I can't hide
I can't hide
I can't hide

There was no question about it. Wes could see the look on the other councillors' faces, and knew without a doubt, that he would be the newest Warbler.

Yeah, you got that something
I think you'll understand
Then I'll say that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand

Kurt finished the song, with such emotion in his voice. He was in awe. Some people had even shed a tear or two.

He struck his gavel on the hard wooden surface, not even bothering to consult with the other members first.

"Kurt Elizabeth Hummel, welcome to the Warblers!"

The whole room burst into applause and cheers of agreement. Everyone went up to Kurt and patting him on the back and giving their support.

As Blaine went up to him, giving him a kiss on the lips well done, Wes felt a pang of loneliness in his heart and his eyes subconsciously flitted to David.

He had no idea why, but all of a sudden, there was a warm feeling, deep in his heart. Then Wes noticed David looking at him too. The warm feeling doubled.

They both blush, quickly looking away, and Wes dismisses the meeting for the day.

The next day, he's in English, about to finish class, as the teacher sets homework.

"This assignment will be done in pairs. You are allowed to choose your partners, but I expect you to choose responsibly."

Wes sighs sadly. There's an odd number in the class. There was no doubt he'd be going solo. He was always the odd one out, forever alone.

Packing up his books, Wes hears a voice behind him.

"Will you be my partner?"

He turns around to see David smiling, looking at him with his beautiful caramel brown eyes. He doesn't need to think about the answer.

"Of course." Wes replies, eyes wide in surprise.

This is a dream, isn't it?

They head back to their dorm together, arms brushing each other's, and shoulders barely touching.

The next day, Wes is in the library, sitting alone, going over the English assignment.

Then David enters, walking over and sitting next to him.

"Starting our English assignment already?" He asks, taking the sheet of paper Wes was writing on, and inspecting it.

"Yep," Wes replies, popping the P.

They start to work on it together, stealing glances when they think the other's not looking.

By the time it gets dark, they've half completed the assignment, before deciding to end it there and call it a day.

Wes start to pack up, getting up from his chair.

"Wait!" David says suddenly and urgently. He grabs Wes' hand who gasps at the touch. The warm feeling is quick to return.

"I wanted to talk to you about something."

Wes nods, prompting him to continue.

"I'm just gonna come out and say it... I'm gay."

Shock is his first reaction. Not so much of the fact that David's gay but more of the bluntness of his coming out. Then it's all joy.

"And I've never told anyone before, but I just feel like I have this connection with you. Like I could tell you all of my deepest, darkest secrets."

Wes smiles at him reassuringly.

"Well thank you for telling me David. And I want you to know that I fully support you and won't tell anyone. Your secret's safe with me." He's trying and failing to keep the pounding of his heart under control. The warmth is steadily growing stronger.

David shakes his head, sighing.

"That's the thing though. I don't want it to be a secret anymore."
He sighs again, adding, "I really, really like you, Wes. This assignment was just an excuse to spend more time with you."

At this point, they were seriously close, and Wes could only hope that David couldn't hear his heart beating out of his chest.

Now they're impossibly closer, never breaking eye contact. An electric current goes down his spine, as Wes feels the other's hot breath against his face.

Seeing no point in denying the inevitable kiss any longer, both lean in slowly, lips meeting in the middle.

Wes had intended it to be a short, sweet kiss, but the second David's lips were on his own, all sanity and self-control was lost.

Putting his arms around David's neck, he deepens the kiss as David pulls him close, wrapping strong arms around Wes' waist.

He never wanted this moment to end, but unfortunately it did, when they heard a squeal coming from the library doorway.

"Fuck sake, Jeff!" David pulls away, more than slightly angry. "Can't you see we're busy?"

Jeff grinned widely, running up to the boys, pulling an embarrassed Nick behind him.

"Finally!" He squealed again. "The Wevid ship has set sail!"

David flushed deep red, while Wes buries his face into his chest.

"I'm really sorry about him, guys." Nick sympathised. "Seriously though, you guys are adorable. I ship it."

Both smile happily, if somewhat embarrassed. Pushing himself away from David, Wes finishes packing up. David follows and they leave the library together.

They head back to their dorm again, this time holding hands.
