Chapter Fifteen: BYOC (Bring Your Own Chocolate)
When I got back to my apartment, I plopped my stuff on my desk and dove into bed.
When I looked at my mirror, though, my face was a mess.
My makeup was all smudged and I looked like a raccoon.
I felt tired and completely miserable. When Britt walked through that door, my life pretty much ended.
I don't know if she'll ever want to talk to me again.
What made me feel even more pathetic was that tomorrow was Christmas Eve and I had no one to spend it with. I had no one to spend Christmas with either.
I could always call up Trent and Hollie, but they probably have their own plans.
It was already almost midnight anyway, so it would be too late to make Christmas Eve plans, right?
The only solution to all of this was sleep.
So I drifted into a long slumber with dreams of Dylan.
----------
"Dylan, what are you doing?"
He came closer to me and put his arms around my waist.
"Something I should have done long ago," he said, bringing his face inches away from mine.
I put my hand on his chest, stopping him. "But what about Britt?"
"Sanjana, I love you, not her. I love you," he whispered, coming closer until there was no space between--
"SANJANA, WAKE UP! IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE," a high-pitched voice rang in my ear.
I jumped up and smacked whoever was closest to me.
"Ow," Hollie groaned. "We need to make you less violent."
"No, I'm fine just the way I am," I declared.
"Ew, I can smell your morning breath from all the way over here," Trent complained walking into my room.
I sighed. "How did you guys get into my house?"
Hollie shrugged. "I found your hidden key."
"Why do you look like you got hit by a train?" Trent asked.
I got up and examined my face and rumpled clothing from yesterday.
The memories of last night came rushing back, and I felt my eyes get watery.
"Sanjana?" Trent approached me carefully. Hollie ran to get tissues and pick out clothes for me.
A single tear slipped from my eye and Trent caught it with his thumb. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close.
"What happened?" He asked softly.
I just sniffed and cried some more onto his shoulder.
"Okay, you can tell me when you're ready," he said quietly.
He walked me over to my bed and lied down next to me, his arms still wrapped around me.
I saw Hollie walk in, but once she saw us, she quickly walked out.
Trent stroked my hair as he began to speak. "You know, Sanjana, I used to like this girl. She was really funny and had the nicest smile I've ever seen. She was one of the prettiest girls I've ever met and I think I kind of fell in love with her. At first, I wanted to get to know her better, but I realized that she liked someone else. Then I tried to let go of her but I couldn't. She was just too special to me."
