The next morning Sabina was awakened by screaming. "I ran a full lap captain!" she screamed as she jolted. "What ... what ... what are you doing in the same bed as me?" Nicky was on the ground. "That's it? Is that why you were screaming? It's barely 7 am and its Saturday, go back to sleep." She pulled the covers back. "Why are you sleeping with me?" "Maybe because there's only 1 bed, and the couches are uncomfortable and it's cold! hurry up and come back, you were a lovely heat pack." He passed out with embarrassment. -Later that day- "I didn't want to bring this up but, why didn't you let me bring anything?" "That's because you won't be needing any of it anymore." She munched on chips while watching batman on the television. "Am I to live as a prisoner?" "It's not that." "I see, then a personal slave." She munched "Spring Spirit Elementary." She munched "You'll be attending that school on Monday." She munched. "oh I see, Spring Spirit Elementary ... wait, HUUUUUUH?" he jumped of the couch, "that school is for elites and super rich people how did you do it?" "I didn't do anything, you did." "I don't know what you mean, who did you bribe?" "No one." "How did you get the money to pull this off?" "Money isn't a problem for me I'm blessed." "I can't understand you." He collapsed into the couch. "Remember a week ago the old lady gave you a paper with some maths questions and grammar?" "yes, wait how did you know about that?" "I gave it to her, that was an entry exam test paper, and you passed." She continued to munch on her chips. "How did you know sister was teaching me? It was a secret." She looked at him, folded the bag of chips and sat up straight. "I believe you should be asking, why a boy without a last name was being taught in secret? Why in eight years' no one wanted to adopt you? Why now?" she looked extremely scary as the sounds of the cartoon faded the room became silent and cold when her cell phone rang breaking the ice. She took it with her into another room. He finally breathed but was trembling. The phone call didn't last more than one minute as she came back and sat. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to lash out at you, I hate being asked questions." "No ... I'm sorry, I'm thankful to be given this chance to life normally." "With all those books you've read, your intellect is very vast you also think like an older person, which isn't bad. It just shows your curiosity to learn." She reached over the coffee table and placed her hand on his head. "You don't have to be afraid, but I will tell you this, as long as I'm here you're free to do anything, as long as I breathe you can have anything you wish for, as long as I'm here you can read, write and even become president if you wish." She smiled as he kept his eyes widen "All I ask is to never leave my side." As she removed her hand, he grabbed unto it and leaped over the table unto her, hugging her tightly. "You're a good boy, you're a good boy." She patted his head. "Now, I got an errand to run." She got up and proceeded to the bathroom. "Can I come with?" "I promise I'll take you to city, but not today." He slouched unto the couch. After about 40 minutes she emerged wearing a black jean, a white shirt with a flowered scarf and a coat. She looked like a movie star he thought. "Have you seen my shades?" "Here!" he reached on the table and carried it to her. "Thank you, now, Mrs. Wilson will be bringing you some pizzas in about 30 to 40 minutes, I've ordered it a few minutes ago as an apology." She winked at him. "Be a good boy, locked the doors and only open it for her ok?" and she left. He ran to the window and peeked from the corner until he saw her leave in the sedan and then locked the doors.
The city of Edinburgh was over flowing with people and business of all kinds, casinos, cinemas, malls, hotels, business men, con-artist, a lot of filthy rich people and if you're not careful where you walk the gangs would swallow you but the most fearsome of all is the mafia behind the city. She smirked as she stood at the entrance to the park. "Nothing's change over the years he really worked hard." She muttered to herself. "I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, as of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door." Spoke a man as he stood next to her, "Tis some visitor I muttered tapping at my chamber door. Only this and nothing more." She replied with a big smile as she turned and gave the gentle man dressed in a grey suit with blonde hair a warm hug. "The raven by Edgar Allan Poe, it's been too long Sabina." He spoke to her gently as he lightly kissed the top of her hand. "Or should I say madam Amberjack." "Indeed it has Mariel and same old you, using poems to identify a friend." She replied. He quickly pinched her cheeks. "What are you doing out here!? You know people are trying to kill you!" he growled. "I'm sorry, but it's been almost eight years." She said rubbing her cheeks. Mariel took his hat off and placed it on her head then proceeded to lock arms and enter the park blending in as a couple. "Where's the kid?" he asked, "He's in the safest building under my property, here I got a picture of him." She showed him her phone as he studied the picture. "Tsk, he looks just like that muscle head douche." "You two never gotten along huh." They sat on a bench. "Why would I? if I had only known what was going to happen years ago I'd ... tsk." "It's not your fault. None of us saw it coming." "We lost a lot of blood that day, boss thought we lost you too. That's a dreadful past I don't want to relive." "You're right. But there's one difference from then. I survived." She stood up and took some steps. "He ... has been on our side since the day his son was conceived ... probably even before that. That's why I can assure you, he didn't betray us." Mariel took a deep breath, "I know. That's why I hate him." He stood up, "I'll tell the boss you're walking under the sun, he will make every effort to meet you in person." She smiled, turned and began to make her way out. "Now that the sun is kissing you again, it's safe to say blood is going to spill again, don't make us wait another eight years." He called to her as she waved to him. They parted. "I'm home!" she called as she entered through the door with some bags in tow. "Welcome back, there's some pizza left I'll warm it for you." Nicky said to her as he hurried into the kitchen. "Thanks, I got your uniform for school, and some supplies." She noticed a book on the table. "What were you reading?" he brought her a pizza slice. "A dictionary." She instantly remembered a past memory of a man speaking to her, "Dictionaries are cool, they hold so many meaning to words, I love reading it." She began laughing. "What's wrong?" he asked her, "Nothing at all." She took the pizza to the table and began eating. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree she thought.
