The world used to be a wonderouls place many centuries ago. That was filled with Daemons, witches and vampires, and now in the twenty-first century, they are all but gone. Overtaken by humans who don't realise that we live among them. - Pippa Procter.
Running along the canal, keeping up with Diana in the rowing boat. Philippa Procter, a young doctor and a witch, while taking a shortcut, felt a vampire. Though supposed enemy's of each other, Philippa or Pippa as most call her, doesn't even turn her head when passing the vampire. Matthew heard the witches heartbeat before he saw her; when passing, he catches a glimpse of caramel brown hair. He watches her leave his sight.
Pippa reaches the apartment before her roommate and cousin Diana. After taking a quick shower, she sets about making both of them breakfast and lunch for the pair of them. Though knowing Diana, she would only each a bit of toast before rushing for her lecture this morning. "You're a life saviour Pippa... Oh, have you seen my seminar paper ?" Sighing as she racks her brain for where she has seen it. "It's in one of the boxes on your desk. Diana, you should just let me unpack for you. I know that you practically live at Bodleian at the moment" Diana rushes to get her paper, though she doesn't listen after finding a picture of her parents. "What were you say, Pippa?" she answers after a Pippa was calling her name a few times. Pippa looks at her cousin worriedly while Diana packs her bag. "Don't worry, I'm Fine, and I'll unpack this weekend. Thank you for both breakfast and lunch. Bye," Diana rushes out to be on time for her lecture.
Pippa's PoV
I shake my head as the door slams closed. Finishing up my own breakfast and tidying up afterwards. I set about getting interviews for hospitals, small practices or research labs that hopefully I will finally get a job. Living with Diana was great, but I wanted to get my career off the ground. While looking through some of Diana's research notes, my phone told me that I had an email. To my surprise, a local hospital had an opening for a temporary doctor. I had the interview within the hour. Rushing out of the door and grabbing my bike. It didn't take me long to get to the hospital, lock up my bike, and make myself look more professional.
I am then walking into the hospital. I bump into a tall man with dark hair in a nurses uniform. "Oh, I'm Sorry", I quickly apologise to the man, "I'm sorry too. I wasn't looking where I was going. A long shift, that's all" I give a smile to the man, he continues to talk to his friend. I could sense he was a vampire. That was the second time today. My magic is as powerful as my uncles; perhaps, even more, I had escaped testing by Peter Knox by using time walking.
Once in the hospital, I was rushed into my interview, and it didn't go bad, but not brilliantly either. An hour later, I stepped out of it; there was the vampire I bumped into. "Hi, I don't mean to sound rude earlier. I'm terribly sorry" I nod my head and give a small smile. "That's alright. I was in a bit of a rush anyway," I politely say to him as he takes steps closer to me. "I'm Marcus Whitmore." Holding his hand out to shake, I take it. "Philippa Procter", He gives a look of interest at me. "You come from a powerful family" "Yes. What is it to you?" I ask sharply to him, "I can't say out in the open but give me a ring if you would like to know more" He hands me a card before walking away.
I watch as he walks away. I check the time to see if it's almost time to meet Diana at Bodleian. Quickly getting my bike then riding as fast as I can to be there on time. I make it to see her talking to Gillian, who gives me a small, slightly timid wave as I approach the "I'm not late, am I?" I ask. Diana shakes her head. "You're perfectly on time" I sigh a sigh of relief as all of us enter Bodleian.
Diana gives me a list of books that she needs for her paper while getting some original medical texts from the eighteenth and nineteenth century. I fill out the paperwork to get the books out; Sean walks to the desk. I think he has a crush on Diana cause he's sweet about her. "So what can I do for you today" First, I give him my list since it was only a few books, then Diana's "Ashmore 37, Ashmore 92, 183 and 782" Sean copy's me with the last one. The last one sounded familiar to me, but I couldn't place it. Sean broke my thoughts with, "They will be right with you" I walk back over to where Diana was sitting, taking notes on her laptop.
