The world used to be a wondrous place many centuries ago. That was filled with daemons, witches, and vampires, now in the twenty-first century, they are but gone. Overtaken by humans who don't realise that we live among them. -Pippa Procter

When I woke again, I was in Matthews office with his coat over top of me; it was a deja vu moment though he was at his desk this time. "Your wake. Good, your cousin has been ringing. I hope you don't mind that I messaged her for you." I wave my hand with its alright. I turn over on my back and stare at the ceiling with disdain.

Why was it every time I came to the lab, I faint? I felt like a woman who was written by a man in a cheap romance novel.

He looks up from his papers. "What has my ceiling ever done to you?" He asks with humour in his voice; there was an undertone of concern that I barely registered with my baby brain. "What time is it?" "10:40 pm", I sighed as I ran some fingers through my hair. "I rightly suppose I'll get a loft home then", He speeds over to me. "Let me drive you. It's the least I can do after bringing you here. And the fact you are carrying my child." I slowly nod my head as I realise that I wasn't alone in this as I thought.

Other than Dianna and our aunts, they are all the family that I have. I suppose now I have Matthew, Miriam and Marcus in my life. As I thought about it, Matthew had already directed me to his car. "How do you want to do this?" I ask him while driving, "I'll help in any way that I can, whether that be financially or emotionally or with your late-night cravings. I won't abandon you or the child." Tell from his voice that he was speaking truthfully. At this point, he had placed his hand on my own.

"Thank you" I felt my face flush as it gave his hand a tight squeeze soon; we were outside of the Professor's room. Before I got out of the car and placed a kiss on the back of his hand. The reaction gave both pauses; it had felt so natural for both of us. I bid him good night.

I got in the apartment, and Diana was there looking a bit flushed, though her gaze was unwavering. I threw my bag on the floor near the door before crossing over to where she sat. "So what you want to know?" I directly ask her. "What's going on? Ever since we opened that book, something has been going on with you" That question was something I was expecting." I had to find answers for what the book was doing to my powers and found Matthew." She sighed and gave a look of well, go on. "I'm pregnant", I whispered; however, Diana heard me, and she rushed to provide me with a hug. "Oh My God! What! When and who is the father?!" I hugged her back just as tightly as she was all she spoke. Give her few moments to process the information before speaking again. "It's Matthew Clairmont. But we haven't done... it. It's that God damn book" She hugs me even tighter if that was possible. "Gods, why is this book the bane of our lives at the moment" I just chuckled as her phone went off.

"You'd better pick that up, Dia", I ask her as I give her one last tight squeeze of the hug. "It's only Sean Hayes as to go out for a drink, and I said yes" I push away from me to get ready for her to date. She's never really dated, few boyfriends here and there, but they all ended in heartbreak. So I know that Sean would be suitable for her. I watch her go out the door before changing and ready for bed. I picked up a new book I'd been reading at Outlander, but I only read a few pages before falling asleep.

I woke up the next afternoon to rustling noise in the apartment. My first thought was that Diana was looking for something, she still hadn't unpacked, but when I checked my phone, Diana was on her evening errands and then exercising. So I shot out of bed to the living room, conjuring a small gust of wind to throw as I stepped into the room. Throwing it at the person, they hit the floor with a groan. "Shite! MATTHEW! what the hell are you doing?" As I realised the figure on the ground. "It is my full entirely. I wanted to see if Diana had gone got the book from the Bodleian. And I didn't realise you were still here. My apologies Philippa." At this point, Matthew had stood up again, walking towards me with a slight air of smugness to him.

"You are technically breaking and entering. However, since you are far from my child, I will ignore it." I stood up straighter with a calm smile on my face. "And as for the book of life, we don't have it; if she were able to get it out without me, I would be surprised." Then a stern look while he stood in my living room. He shifted his weight slightly; if anyone were to look at him, he wouldn't have noticed it, but I did as a trained nurse who had to look for body language and spend some time with Matthew. So I had picked up some of his body language ticks.

"Again, my apologies Pippa." He spoke slowly; I suppose he was worried that I might throw him out of the window. I take his hand after walking over to him. Placing it on my slight belly was forming. My stomach was becoming a bit more rounded than before. "That is remarkable." He whispers as he can hear the heartbeat. My smile could get any brighter as his eyes sparkled. "There growing fast?" I questioned him, nodding his head as he stepped away from me. He tends to leave. "Matthew, will I speak to you later?" I ask him as he gets to the door. "Possibly", he spoke mysteriously before walking out the door.

My heart couldn't help but break a little as he walked out of that doorway. I curled up on the couch after getting some Peter ordered, and I will do my sadness. Even though we had known each other less than a week, I felt a connection I couldn't explain. That was how Diana found me late at night, curled up a pizza box on the coffee table, and snuggled in a blanket.

What I didn't know that hearing the heartbeat of our child. For the first time in Matthew's mortal life, he never thought he would be a father again in the human sense of the word. So skip you into Scotland before sending Marcus to watch me. To protect our child and me from any potential threats.
