Chapter 8: The Essentials
Kerry's P.O.V
We, James and I, were walking down the corridor that led to the car park. If I was being honest right now, I was still worried about the whole bike trip thing. Don't get me wrong, I trust James when he's on that thing and he has great experience with it but....
I still worry for him.
"Don't worry about me, your not the one driving " I heard James whisper into my ear, snapping me out of my trance.
I turned to see him giving me both a sincere and devious smile which didn't seem possible but it still had a great affect on me.
I started turning red from the embarrassment but quickly covered it up "I could totally drive your bike if I wanted to, anytime of any day" I told him with confidence but also in a bit of a squeaky voice.
"Ok then, how about right now" he told me quickly before he opened the exit door and walked ahead of me.
"Wait, what did I just get myself into" I questioned and exclaimed in panic, wondering if he was serious. "Calm down Kerry, this is James we're talking about, he's never serious about anything and....."
"Come on, what are you waiting for" James called out, gesturing me to hurry up.
I snapped back to reality and followed him through the car park. As I was side by side with him, I kept wondering if he seriously thinks that I was going to ride his bike. But I wasn't worried, besides I'm too short to reach the accelarator and was barely able to grab hold of the handles if I wanted to that is.
The bike was just ahead of us and made our way towards it. I stopped and waited for James to get on but he stopped in his tracks and turned to me, smirking.
"What are you waiting for" he asked as he gestured to the bike.
"Oh my god, are you serious" I asked in my head or so I thought...
"Yes, yes I am serious" he replied.
"Did I just say that out loud" I asked him.
"Yep" he replied back, popping the 'p'.
"James, in case you haven't noticed, I'm too short to even rea-" I was cut off as he picked me up by hips and lifted me into the air "HEY, what on earth do you think you're doing" I added in a frustrated tone.
"What do you think I'm doing" he said it like it was obvious as he placed me on the front seat of his bike.
"James....I AM NOT RIDING THIS THING" I exclaimed.
He just stood there, smirking and chuckling at me.
"You said any time of any day and I say that day is today"
"I was just kidding, James"
"But I'm not" he said with all playfulness disappearing from his voice.
I can't believe this, he was really being serious and now he expects me to drive us? How does he think we will even get there....
"I'll show you how" he said before adding "And yes, you said all that out loud as well" before grinning.
I can feel myself turning red from the embarrassment as James got on and sat behind me. I turned to see him tightening the bags on his shoulders before grabbing the helmets from the side compartment. He handed one to me which I hesitanted before taking it out of his hands and strapping it around my head.
He quickly put his on before he spoke "Ok, now let me show you how we're going to do this"
I really was starting to get nervous now that I know for sure we were going to do this and was scared out of my mind.
