Harry:"How do I look? Does it look like I'm trying too hard?" Harry asks for the fifth time. He's changed about five times trying to get the "perfect outfit" to meet your family today.
"Yes Harry, and if you ask me again I'm leaving you home." You say rolling your eyes. If he only knew.
"Well you don't sound happy as you should. Considering you haven't seen your family in a year." He turns to look at you.
"I am happy." You sigh trying to sound happy as you can, but you fail miserably.
"You know I know when you're lying Y/N. Just tell the truth." He presses walking over and taking your hands into his. You let out a big breath plopping back onto the bed.
"It's my cousin." You finally say, rubbing your temples thinking about all the drama you went through because of her.
"I'm sure she's not that bad." He reasons taking a seat by you.
"You don't even know the half. Last year, she 'accidentally' dropped her food on my head. And the year before that she lied to my mother and told her I was freaking drug addict! I know she's my family, but my patience is running thin." You say keeping your eyes on the floor thinking of what she could possibly do this year.
"Y/N calm down I'm sure it will be alright." He soothes trying to comfort you. You roll your eyes at his words, sometimes you hate how positive Harry is.
"Harry you don't understand. Matter of fact, I'm not going. I refuse to go to the reunion to be treated like crap and no one notices!" Harry frowns at your tone of voice but you can't help it. You sigh laying back on your bed as Harry eyes follow you.
"Cmon Y/N, this is my first year meeting the family. And plus, I'll be there to protect my baby." He reassures smiling slightly at you.
"Nope." You reply simply keeping your eyes on the ceiling.
"Please?" He insists.
"Nope." You say stubbornly.
"For me?" He asks innocently while moving on top of you.
"No."
"Are you sure?" He asks dipping his head down to your neck, dragging his lips along your jawline. You feel your pulse start racing as you feel lips plant a wet kiss on the side of your neck. You feel his hands move to your waist as he continues he gentle assault on your neck. You breath stops in your throat when you feel him start sucking at the sensitive spot under you ear. You let out a light moan as you feel one of Harry's hand making its way down to your waistline. You feel his hand dip into the front of your leggings and ready yourself for what's about to happen next. Instead of touching you, Harry withdrawals his hand and gets off of you still smirking.
"You dick." You say lowly while he smiles innocently at you.
"It's easy, Y/N. Either we go, and I can pickup where I started later. Or we stay, and I do nothing." He smiles and you glare at him.
"Okay, but only for an hour." You bargain.
"Two or nothing." He replies and your mouth falls open.
"I guess, let's just get this over with." You sigh grabbing your purse and heading to the front door with a happy Harry close behind.
....
You two make it to the reunion in under twenty minutes and Harry parks near the curb. You reluctantly drag yourself out of the car and Harry takes ahold of your hand and escorts into the house.
"Y/N!" Your mother shouts as soon as she catches sight of you. You quickly embrace your mother. "Mom, this is Harry. And Harry, this is mom." You smile gesturing back and forth between the two.
"Oh, you didn't tell me you where into white boys. I knew vanilla was your flavor." She smiles and you laugh at your mother shaking your head.
"It's nice to meet you..." He trails off unsure of what to call her.
"Mom,"She answers for him. "Call me mom." She smiles warmly at Harry. You knew she would like him. "Well let's go meet the rest of the family, Harry. They'll love you." She says guiding you and Harry into the backyard.
You let your mom do all the work with introducing Harry to your family and you laugh when you hear your cousins ask Harry if he wants to play basketball. You knew Harry was horrible at sports.
"Sure, let's shoot some hoops homie." Harry says and everyone stops and looks at him as you shake your head. Harry really know how to make things awkward.
You take your seat on the side of the court as you watch your boyfriend start to play basketball with your cousins.
"Y/N, we meet again." You hear from behind you and you already know that voice. It's your cousin from hell.
"Not in the mood." You say not even bothering to turn around and face her.
"So I see you got a new boyfriend. How much did you pay him to act like your "boyfriend"?" She asks and you don't answer her. You are not going to let her ruin your day. "Do you hear me?" She questions and you stay silent. "Oh, you're going to try to ignore me. I won't be ignored." She says simply walking off and you know it won't be the last of her. You sigh and try to focus on Harry and how happy he looks getting dunked on by your brother.
After about thirty minutes you hear your mom call everyone to come eat.
"Are you having fun?" You smiles as you see your sweaty boyfriend making his way over to you.
"Yes I am. And I learned to things today." He smiles putting his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath.
"What did you learn?"
"That I'm shit at basketball, and I love your family." He grins and you can't help the stupid grin that spreads across your face. You where happy that everything was going so well, but not for you.
"Let's go eat." You say getting up and taking his hand, "You're going to love soul food."
You two make it into the house and you fix you and Harry a plate.
"And what did you say these are?" He questions staring intently at the plate.
"Chitterlings, try it." You encourage and he quickly grabs a spoon full and stuffs it into his mouth. You watch his face intently. After he swallows he speaks.
"They were so good, but so spicy." He says sticking out his tongue taking quick breaths. You laugh at him, you knew your mama always made her chitterlings very spicy.
"I'll get you a drink." You offer going into the kitchen and getting two water bottles.
As you turn the corner you stop in your tracks when you see your cousin from hell speaking to Harry. Your last bit of patience snaps as you quickly cross the room.
"That's it, I don't know what your problem is but you need to go solve it and take ten steps away from my boyfriend." You say glaring at her. You would not let her drag Harry into this.
"Lighten up Y/N. We were just conversing." She smiles innocently winking at Harry.
"You got three seconds before all your weave is gone." You threaten catching the attention of everyone in the room.
"That's not how you treat family." She smiles and you can tell there is something hiding behind it. She knows something you don't. "Oh wait, we're not family." She chuckles and you furrow your eyebrows.
"What do you mean?" You question but you're not sure if you're actually ready for the answer.
"How about we calm down?" Your mother says giving your cousin a look. "This is not the time or place." She says sternly with her eyes still on your cousin.
"No, I think it is. She think she can walk around like she's actually apart of this family. Someone needs to tell her she's adopted. And that her real mother and father didn't want her. And honestly, I don't blame them." Your eyes wells with tears at her revelation.
"Mom is this true?" You murmur turning your attention to the woman who you thought was your mom all your life. Her silence give consent and you quickly run out the house, faraway from the place you thought was your home.
