The early morning was upon the city of Musutafu, however, the night's grasp seemed to stay. Rolling clouds blotted out the pale star-lit sky, surrounding a certain figure in its darkness, the man was still, enveloped in the silence of the early morning.
A flicker of movement caught the attention of the man in black, causing him to look down from his position atop of a nearby water tower. Tendrils of curling black smoke rose up from a building a few blocks down, from what the man could see; blue flames were licking hungrily at the walls of the building, threatening to spill over into the other neighbourhoods.
He had to do something.
Shuffling through his pockets he found what he needed, turning it on the man read the time '2:04 am' before dialling a number.
"I'll do what I can," were the words last spoken by the man in black before he jumped down to the streets, wanting to evacuate as many civilians as possible while he waited for backup heroes that were more qualified for the required task.
Running towards the apartment complex where the blaze had been lit the man turned to every civilian he passed and gave them quick instructions to leave the area. However, due to the current hour that was not many people.
As the sirens of police and calls of other heroes in the distance began to rise into the crisp morning air the man passed by various alleyways and corners. Although, in one particular alleyway the man was hit by something... or someone...
The hero stepped back, bracing himself for an attack before looking down at the thing that had attached itself to him. It was a child. Big wet tears rolled down the kid's face that was scrunched up in both fear and pain, while the man expected a typical kid to be screaming this one was just clinging onto his leg, silently shaking.
The hero crouched down making himself eye-level with the trembling child, "Hey kid, are you ok?" he asked in a quiet voice, he internally sighed when he already knew the answer. The kid merely shook his head slowly before latching himself onto the man's upper body. The hero wrapped his arms around the small child, "you're alright now," he whispered softly before inspecting the boy. He was covered in scrapes and burns, his short green hair was tangled and slightly burnt at one side.
Just what the hell happened to this poor kid?!
His question was answered as he slowly became aware of two things, the child he was holding in his arms was muttering something along the lines of 'she's gone... the fire... they'll come and find me and hurt me...' repeatedly to himself. His inner dad was immediately activated as he heard the word 'hurt'.
The hero looked around, growing aware that they weren't alone, the man stood up and secured the frightened child to his side. Staring into the alleyway he was positioned in front of he noticed a blue glow emitting from in the depths of the alleyway. Pulling on his googles and leaping away from the entrance he decided it would be safer for the kid if he didn't have to fight a villain. But he was well prepared to, just in case.
Pushing himself off the street's sidewalk he quickly found his footing on one of the nearby poles, allowing him to run along a row of closely built house. As he ran he felt the small arms of the child wrap around his neck, further securing himself to him, the green-haired boy buried his face into the hero's chest as they neared the place of the blaze where the pro hero assumed he had come from.
Other professional heroes were dealing with the blue inferno and helping to evacuate the building along with the surrounding ones. Once he arrived at the scene he heard a voice call out to him, "Ah, Eraserhead, I was wondering when you'd stop past, you must've been pretty far anyway when you spotted the fir-" the man wearing a detective coat stopped himself noticing the boy he was clutching tightly.
"Who-, er-, is this young boy?" the detective asked.
"He ran into me, by the sound of it he was being chased by the culprits behind this," Eraserhead answered, gesturing to the scene that was slowly calming around them.
"I see, I see, would you care to come with me back to the police station for a quick rundown of the events you witnessed tonight, Aizawa?" the detective inquired.
"Whilst I do see its importance I need to see this boy to the hospital for his injuries, Tsukauchi," Aizawa replied.
"Shall I call you later for questioning after the boy has recovered, that way we could see if he could offer any insight into the situation at hand?" Tsukauchi proposed.
"That works for me," Aizawa nodded, noticing the boy in his arms had stopped mumbling and had fallen asleep against him.
What am I going to do with you?
