Days passed, and Friday finally came.

Ian eyed the exercises spread across his textbook, the same equations he could solve in minutes now appearing incredibly difficult.

He glanced to the side, eyes landing on his best friend, who contentedly tried to go through all of the exercises, smile ever so present on his face.

Seeing your smile had always made Ian's day a little better. So why was seeing it now so bittersweet to him?

He sighed, turning back to the textbook, playing with his pen.

What did you see in that girl, anyway?
She never seemed to approach you first, or initiate conversation with you.

He didn't even know if you liked guys at all, let alone a guy like him.

Heck, you didn't know he liked guys!

He knew you'd be accepting, but he had always been nervous to come out to you, despite Barley's encouragement.

Ian's warm brown eyes searched the page as if the numbers and symbols held a solution for his predicament.

Despite knowing that worrying wasn't going to change anything, the thought of you thinking differently of him for being gay shook Ian to his core.

What if you didn't like him anymore?

What if it accidentally slipped out that he was in love with you?

What if you never even wanted to see him again-

RRRRRING!

Hearing the school bell ring, the class started packing up their belongings, rushing out of the classroom.

Ian had some trouble gathering his things, hands shaking from his intrusive thoughts eating away at him.

Placing your notebook in your bag and closing it, you went towards the doorframe, waiting for Ian like you usually would.

The fact that you were waiting for him each and every time made Ian feel all warm and giddy. This was all for him and him only.

Or whenever he forgot something at home, whether it be a highlighter, a pen or a textbook, (rare as it may be) you always reached out to lend one to him or share your book with him.

Much to his relief, you didn't stop doing these things ever since she came along.

He wanted to support you. He really did.

After he reached you, you two walked out of the classroom, looking for your next class.

"Chemistry, right?"

Ian looked at the picture of the schedule on his phone.

"Yeah, chemistry..."

Unable to contain your smile, you sped up a bit, looking back at Ian and holding your hand out.

He took it, letting you lead him to the lab.

Maybe it was your eager smile, or the spark in your eyes, but chemistry didn't seem so bad for now.

(Y/N)...

Chemistry was all kinds of bad right now.

It was unbelievably hot in the classroom, the air conditioning had yet to be fixed and Ian couldn't even focus on what the teacher was saying because of his pounding headache.

"Dude, are you okay?"

Ian shook his head slightly, eyes flickering to you.

"Just a headache, th-that's all."
