My First Love

Mysterious Dad

I never met Richards dad. In fact for the first month of our relationship he never mentioned his dad. But one day he texted me in excitement.

"My dad is coming back from the military next week!"

Now I didn't question this because him and his mom lived on our states military base. I assumed that his family was normal and that his dad was just drafted somewhere or something. I was excited for him, but he immediately turned it around.

"He probably wont visit me though because he doesn't love me." I comforted him, told him that wasn't true and that was pretty much the end of that.

I never heard anything about his dad again. That is until several months later. He had found his dad on Facebook and was texting him almost nonstop. I had never seen him so happy before. Now at this point I started to assume that maybe his parents just got a divorce and his mom has full custody of him or something. Maybe the dad just didn't really want to take care of them. Regardless I didn't think anything of this.

Then things got weird. Later that same day when I had my science class with him I noticed he was extremely angry about something. I tried talking to him to see what was wrong but he ignored me completely. I just left him alone and didn't worry too much about it until he got called to the front office.

He left and after like 5 or 10 minutes he came back. I asked him again if everything was fine. He ignored me again. After a few minutes the office called for him again. He looked even more angry as he left. This happened over and over again for the whole class. It got to the point where the students were asking me what was going on and the teacher kept saying stuff like, "Why do they keep sending him back? Just keep him"

Richard just wouldn't talk to me at all. Eventually, he got called out again as class was about to end. When I started heading to my next class I saw Richard at the front office. He was talking to two police officers. Now I was freaking out and was getting a little pissed.

After school I demanded to know what was going on. As it turns out Richards mom filed a restraining order against his dad years ago. He didn't tell me what for, but it was heavily implied that Richard's little sister accused the dad of sexual abuse towards her. Knowing how Richard himself was towards me this doesn't surprise me, but he insisted that his sister lied and that his dad is a great guy.

I never heard about his dad again. Richard vowed he'd see him when he turned 18 because then the restraining order wouldn't apply to him anymore since he'd no longer be a minor or something.

All I could wonder was why did he make up some sob story about how his dad wasn't going to visit him because he didn't love him, when in reality it was because they'd be breaking the law? How did the police find out about there interaction so quickly? Is his dad under high security or something?

This is what I mean when I say my life was filled with drama because of him. Every day he'd pull stuff like this and then I'd find out that something else was going on entirely. I never knew if he was just mentally insane and actually thought these things or if he purposely made stuff up and told me white lies to gain my sympathy.

This may be the last time I mention his dad, but there are many more stories like this involving the police.
