You'll Be In My Heart

I wandered through old memories. Seeing this I wish I could forget. They weren't bad, I just couldn't stand to see them again. They hurt. I loved the boy. Well, I thought I did at least. There's one memory that I couldn't forget, nor do I want to.

We were dressed in our best. He looked stunning standing there in the fitted tux. Cropped hair slicked back, dark brown eyes shining. He was the most beautiful person. I couldn't let him go.

We walked towards each other. Him taking long strides across the ballroom while I was shuffling my feet, trying to slow time; only wanting to gaze at him. His hand grasped my own and pulled me into him. I was surprised, but I didn't move. I snuggled into the embrace and wished for time to stop. This was perfect. Nothing could make this better.

Well that's what I thought. He pulled away and we began to dance. The music was quiet but I knew what was playing. He began to sing along, looking into my eyes.

"Come stop your crying

Tears began to well up in my eyes. I blink profusely to keep them down.

"I will protect you

He tugged me closer as I began to sob. We still danced.

His hand disappeared from my waist, only to pull my chin up from his chest to look at him. His thumb grazed along my cheek, wiping tears away.

I was bawling my heart out by now and hyperventilating.

I pushed him away and fell to the ground. Crying into my small hands that fit perfectly in his. He kneeled beside me and hugged me, silently singing the final verse.

His warm hand disappeared from my back. The tears were flowing freely, but I pushed myself to my feet. My face set with a determined look. I walked forwards, away from the dance floor. The large oak doors right in front of me. I look over my shoulder, wanted to get one last glance at my soulmate. He was nowhere to be seen. I pushed open the doors, the icy winter wind biting at my flesh. The last thing I heard was-

"I love you Wyatt. Till the end of time. Forever and always."

"I love you to James. Until the day I die. I will be with you."

And with that final goodbye I walked straight into the night. Leaving my loves grave for the final time.

Tears flowed freely down my cheeks as I stared at the hospital ceiling. The heart monitor connected to me began to slow. My family had gathered around to wish their beloved father, grandfather, and friend goodbye.

"Hello Wyatt." I heard a voice say beside me. I turned my head to see James standing there. As,e as the day he died. "I've been waiting for you. For a very long time."

I held my hand out to him. He took it and kissed it. My hand turned from wrinkled with age to how it looked when I met James. I pushed the covers off my body, shakily standing up. My entire body was turning young again. Bones becoming stronger, wrinkles disappearing from my aged body. I smileD up at my beautiful James. He kissed me like we used to. Cupping my face in his hands, like I was the most fragile glass on earth.

We pulled away, our hands eternally linked and looked ahead.

"Are you ready?" He asked.

"I've been ready since you left James."

We walked forward towards the light. My family sobbed behind me as the heart monitor went flat.

I was finally with my soulmate. For eternity.

"I love you Wyatt. Till the end of time. Forever and always."

"I love you too James. For all eternity, I will be with you."
