I met up with my good friend Sarah. Her and I go way back. I could trust her with anything. While walking through the halls of our school, We would do occasional guy watching. Hey what can you expect for two 16 year old girls. Anyway, we were walking up to the usual spot where one guy I find extremely attractive was... Danny Wilson. He was one year older then me, a junior. Besides his tall, skinny figure; he had bigger ears accompanied by diamond studs. His brown hair was cut shorter and brought higher up in the front. I never found out his eye color due to the fact I never once talked to him because I was too scared. Before I even knew his name, I just referred to him as "the kid with the red beats"; that's how everyone knew him. Me being my shy self, I never got the courage to walk up to him and just say "Hey you're a cutie!" Nope not me. He was super attractive and I was, well ya know, not the hot blonde. Now I wasn't the most hideous creature out there, I'd like to think that, but like I said before, I was no jaw dropper like Danny.
Back to the story. Sarah and I were walking our usual path to class. Turning to Sarah on my right to engage in a conversation so I could keep from staring at Danny. I tried to pay attention to what she was saying, even though she knew I couldn't. Once we were a safe distance away I let out a deep breath and Sarah just rolled her eyes. I couldn't get over how a guy like Danny could be so attractive.
We were almost 15 feet away from where the lad and his friends were standing. Suddenly, I was being pushed forward, stumbling and almost falling. When I caught my balance I was met with a person in front of me who was out of breath. I think I blinked 30 times just to get a clear picture and understanding of the human in front. It was none other but Danny Wilson. Thee Danny Wilson. By now my face was as red as my sweatshirt I had on and my knees we hitting each other because of my nerves not calming down. Finally I realized his hand on my shoulder and I tried to look him in the eyes. No words were exchanged between us. My jaw fell a bit and my heart was racing.
"You have no idea how long I've been tryin to stop ya" Danny said out of breath. I couldn't talk at all. I kept looking between his face to the hand still at my shoulder. When I was able to talk, my voice cracked.
"What?" seriously Carter... what... but that's all I could say. What. The four letter word that lingered on my mind about this whole situation; what.
"Ya heard me. I've been trying to catch up to ya for a long time. I just gotta know yer name and get to know ya." Now he was smirking and threw a wink at me. I looked around for Sarah. Why she left me, I don't know and I'm going to kill her for doing that.
My mind was racing and I had no idea what to do. Danny tilted his head a bit and smiled at me.
"So can I get a name?"
I was able to speak up and tell him. "Carter Hill." He guided me off to the side, away from the middle of the hallway. He took off his backpack and rummaged through it. My instinct was to book it, go to class and stay incognito for the rest of my life. What was I getting myself into? Looking around me trying to find the best way to go. Just when I was about to run, Danny's voice boomed through my thoughts.
"Here's my number." He slipped a piece of paper into my sweatshirt pocket. I backed up a bit at the fact he put his hand in my front pocket. When I looked up at him, I noticed he tried not to laugh by biting his lip. Why did he look so good doing that? Shaking my head a bit to get to reality, I reached my hand in my pocket and found a piece of paper folded in four. Before I could even open it up, Danny said "Text me. I wanna get ta know ya" and with that, he shot me a smile and went his way. My fear of opening up the paper got the best of me. My hands trembled and possible words filled my mind that could be on the paper like "Loser" or "Gullible *insert expletive*" Closing my eyes and taking a deep breath, I unfolded it and it had, indeed, a seven digit number with his name and a winkey face. A goofy grin ran across my face and a slight giggle presented itself. I quickly folded up the paper and walked to class.
I walked up to Sarah and gave her a slight punch in the arm and added "That's for leaving me!" She laughed and I joined in too. Filling her in with what happened, She smiled and said I should totally text him. Soon the class ended and then the next few classes after. I told my other friend Kayla during my music class. She playfully teased me and said she couldn't wait until lunch. I asked her why and she said "Don't you remember? He's in our lunch and I'm so gonna push you into him." My eyes grew wide and she laughed and I joined in too. When the classes ended and it was time for lunch, My hands got sweaty and I had so many butterflies. Walking to my table was painful due ot the fact my legs were unstable. I was finally able to sit down. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to calm down. I thought to myself, "Wow I'm actually okay!" That was until I saw Danny making his way to the lunch room.
