Alarms blasted through my ears making it hard to walk straight. I didn't stop though. Sam and I burst open the steel doors exposing the moon lit forest. Even if we made it far, I don't know how we will survive. Our bags are gone and the only things we have are two guns and they are really heavy.  My shoes crumbled the leaves on the ground. The night seemed perfect almost bliss. Almost.

The alarms still banged on my ears. A bullet hit the ground in front of my feet. Almost instantaneously Sam and I began to run into the forest. As the alarms from inside the building became distant a new sound roared through the sky's. I looked back to see a helicopter rising from the building. Then lights flashed everywhere. Barking of dogs became close.

More bullets sprang by us. I made sure to stay close by Sam as we wiggled through the trees. A dog with scary sharp teeth came up close behind me and bit my calf. I screamed in pain. I took the gun that was strapped behind me and I shot it. Then putting the gun behind my back again I pulled the dogs jaw out of my leg.

I regained my balance and tried to breath. My mind began going haywire.I saw the forest stretch for what seemed like for ever. It looked like it kept growing. When I looked around Sam was gone. The building was gone. I am alone and scared.

What do I do?! I quickly began to climb the nearest tree. It was nice and tall, good. I peered through the forest to try and spot Sam.

My heart stopped. He was laying on the ground with blood around him. Two guards approached him, laughing. I had to act fast.

Is he dead?

Grabbing the strap of the heavy gun I prepared to jump to next tree. A hard landing but I need to keep going. I positioned myself above Sam. With a steady breath I steadied the gun in my hands, trying to ignore the pain in my leg. I fried, hitting the first guard in the chest. I aimed for the head, but it still worked. As the dead guard fell the other readied his gun aiming up into the trees frantic.

He doesn't see me.

I used this time to aim again. Sadly, I missed, terribly. The bullet hit the ground near his feet and now he knows where I am. He shoots, barely missing my arm. I moved as quickly as I could with the gun hitting my back with every move. I know it will leave a big bruise, if its even given time. Bullets pierced through the tree at rapid speed. I pulled the gun over my back and took in a sharp breath. Without think it through I pivoted into view and just as I took a shot with out aim he fried too. His bullet pierced through the end of my arm making me loose my balance on the branches. I didn't have time to see if I'd hit him. I started to fall.

With my good arm I grabbed as hard as I could onto a branch but it wouldn't last long. In the spear moments hanging, so close to falling, I saw the second guard laying dead on the forest floor. I looked up and tried grabbing for another branch with my other hand. Pain soared through my arm but I had to re frame from screaming. Biting my tongue I pulled my self up to sit. My head hit the trunk of the tree and I took a breath, for a moment it was quite.

Sam

I tried to find the quickest and safest way down. Landing with I thud my whole body gave up at landing. Slowly regaining my strength I pulled up holding my arm and limping over to Sam.

He looked dead. I paced two fingers over his neck.

Thud, thud

He's unconscious.

"Sam." I whispered trying to wake him. Tears slowly slid off my cheek. "Please wake up." With every moment, the guards could be closing in. Without a second thought, I grabbed his arms, one was shot as well. I pulled him up and placed his hand around me. I used all the might I could muster to keep walking as I dragged him over me. Only a few steps I got in before falling to the ground.

My body hurt so much, its become unbearable. The ground felt soft under me. It felt like the ground was grabbing me, pulling me in. The forest was still and calm. My eyes became heavy and hard to keep open. I let the dark consume me. Nothing but black.

~

I felt my body tingle, then a terrible pain filled my body. Past the pain I felt a soft fabric under me, and a pillow under my head. I shot open my eyes and sat up quickly. I was in a small room, the walls were wood and string. I was in a bed, with a wool blanket and the pillow, who knows. My arm was rapped in a strange plant like green wrap, I pulled off the blanket, my leg was the same. The wrap around my leg was brown unlike my arm. It's still bleeding. The door to the room opened. I caught my breath. An old lady walked in and smiled at me. I didn't return the kindness.

"Where am I?" I asked in a harsh tone.

"Calm down girl," She said still smiling "You are here, outside the government." My eyes widened. "I-I'm out?" I asked.

"Yes dear. You and that boy, I believe some of the people know him from a long time ago, but you. Who are you?"

"My names Becky, I was at one of the schools, met Sam, and just left." I said shifting my body trying to get up.

"No, no, don't get up. You will hurt your self more." She rushed to me pushing me down and placing the blanket on me. "Its colder this time of year so you'll want to keep that on." She stood and smiled again. "I'll go get that boy, Sam. He's been waiting for you to wake up." With that she left the room.

That woman was so happy. A smile slid across my face. I'll be happy now, I'm free.

I waited for a moment before Sam entered. He gave me a big smile and said "We did it, we are free at last."
