My head shot up, "You don't have to!" It immediately slipped out of my tongue. I nervously laughed, "It's fine. I can afford this," I said, "I'm planning to get a part-time job! I'll be able to live," I reassured him. He took the frames off my hand and went up to the cashier. I went to his side. The cashier smiled and greeted the two of us, "Will the lady or the gentleman be paying?"
I was about to reach into my pocket. But then I realized. I was in a white kimono and all my belongings weren't with me. Including my wallet. "I'll be paying," Ishida said, handing money to the cashier.
The cashier smiled, "Aren't you a nice boyfriend?" she laughed.
I froze, my cheeks turning red. "Wh-- I-- H-He's just a friend!" I covered my face. "Y-Yes!" Uryu said, sounding a little embarrassed, "W-We're only friends..." he laughed nervously. "Oh! I'm terribly sorry!" The cashier squeaked, laughing right after. "Do you have the prescription? If not, we'll do a short eye test," she said, gesturing to closed curtains.
"Sebenarnya, ada je tapi tak bawak..."(Actually, I do have it, but I didn't bring it) I mumbled. I smiled at the cashier, "I guess, we have to do an eye test."
Uryu and I walked out of the store. "We'll have to come back in 30 minutes," he said as he dragged me through the crowd. "So," I said, "Where are we going?" I asked, looking around. "I'm trying to figure that part out," he stopped at the side and leaned on the wall as he looked around. I stood awkwardly beside him.
He looked over at me, "I could go shopping with you." I blinked. "You sure?" I asked, "I don't have any money with me..." I fiddled with my fingers. "Who says we're using your money?" he asked, raising his eyebrows. I shook my head, "Ishida-Kun, you shouldn't spend your money on me," I laughed nervously, "Because it's your money."
"I'll let you in on a secret," he said, "It isn't exactly my money," he smirked, "It's my father's."
My eyes widened, "That gives me more reasons not to use your money!"
"It's okay," he took my hand and started walking, "He's a doctor, he earns a lot."
I sighed, shaking my head, "I'm not going to spend on someone else's money, Ishida-Kun..." he dragged me into a store. "Well," he spoke, "Even if you aren't going to buy anything, I figured you probably miss the whole environment," he patted the back of my hand, "You look quite pale and depressing since we've rescued you."
I scratched the back of my neck, "I thought I always looked depressing," I joked, laughing a little. I walked up to the hanging clothes, running my hand through it. I turned to my side, seeing Uryu picking out some clothes. "Y'know what I miss isn't the environment," I said, "It's the faces I was always with that I miss," I smiled.
Uryu turned to me with a soft smile on his elegant features. "The clone that was with us," he said, running his hand through the clothes, "Had something different on her. She just acted a little off," he said, "Though, the others didn't seem to notice it." I raised my eyebrows, "We didn't even hang out that much."
"I'm not as close to you as Abarai or Shinji," he pushed his glasses up, "But I'm very observant of your personality," he took out a white button-up shirt which had a ribbon on the collar out from the row, "You always had a little accent every time you speak." He turned to me and displayed the shirt to me, "Doesn't this look nice?"
"It does look nice," I said, placing my hand on the sleeve. The material felt heavenly on my fingers. My eyes went to him, "You're trying to make me buy something," I squinted my eyes and shook my head, "That isn't going to work on me." He clicked his tongue, "Ned," he said, "I insist, alright?"
I shook my head and took a step away from him, "I refuse to buy that thing," I paused, "Unless it's on sale..." I mumbled, "But I'll go back home, change and then buy it with my own money."
"Neddy," Ishida said.
I looked into his blue eyes. "No," I said, "I'm not gonna do it."
He sighed, placing the shirt back where he took it, "You're impossible to convince."
"Yes, I'm known to be stubborn, Ishida-Kun," I crossed my arms, "What time is it?"
He took out his phone and checked, "30 minutes have passed," he muttered. I nodded. He grabbed my hand and guided me out of the store. We walked through the crowd in silence. I looked at the kimono I was wearing, "Eh, lupa pulak saya tengah pakai ni." (I forgot I was wearing this.)
I looked at Uryu, "Why didn't we go back to my apartment first?" I asked. He looked at me for a moment before turning back to the front, "You were the one who suggested doing this." I furrowed my eyebrows, well, yeah, but I'm also pretty dumb. We finally arrived at the store.
We went up to the cashier. She gave us a blue glasses case. Ishida took it into his hands, thanking the blonde cashier. He opened the case and placed the glasses on me. I adjusted the glasses, making sure it stays put on my nose. He handed me the case as we walked out of the store.
I looked around, sighing happily, "It's nice to be able to see again," I laughed, looking over to Uryu, "I can finally see how good-looking you are," I smiled at him. He adjusted his glasses and looked away from me, "Thank you..." he mumbled. I laughed and patted his shoulder, "Come on, let's head back to my place."
He turned to me. I suppressed a laugh, "Just going to invite you in for tea," I said, "And change out of these," I patted his shoulder one more time before placing my hand down.
He pushed his glasses up, "Why don't I take you back to my place?"
