Prologue

ANNABETH CHASE never knew what happened to her birth mother. She lived with her father, stepmother and her little stepbrothers. They treated her like a burden on their backs, well at least her stepmom did. Her dad was not there most of the time, but she still loved her stepbrothers. She felt like an outsider in her own home

PIPER MCLEAN was told her birth mother left. She tried to think it was a lie, she really did. She didn't want to believe her own mother didn't want her. Her father was the famous actor Tristan Mclean. Now you may think 'wow she's so lucky!!!' But she really isn't, her dad's rarely home. All she wants is to be noticed.

HAZEL LEVEQUE her mother was not a very sane person. She was a fortune-teller, therefore people thought she was crazy. Hazel was always teased about it'witch girl' ' freak'. She never fought back. She never knew anything about her dad. Where was he? Why did he leave? Was he even alive?

LEO VALDEZ was an orphan. His mother died when he was young in a fire. His father left a few months before the accident. His entire family blamed him and refused to take him in. His aunt Rosa took him in only because it was in his mom's will. But aunt Rosa made it her duty to remind Leo he was the cause of his mom's death every day

PERCY JACKSON his life was about 5 per cent good but only because of his mom. His stepfather was a jerk. He drank. He harassed Percy and his mom. But they needed him for the money. He never knew anything about his dad, but why should he care? He left his mom and him.

JASON GRACE his only family was his big sister Thalia. She was awesome. Whether his dad left or died he didn't know. His mom died because she was driving drunk They were both taken in by some woman called Hera. She only wanted Jason but he refused to go without his sister. So Hera took them both, though she didn't treat them very well, especially Thalia.

FRANK ZHANG his mom died at war. He now lived with his extremely strict grandmother. He never knew what happened to his dad. His grandmother told him he was in the army, fighting and would be back home eventually. When Frank was young, every time the doorbell rang he would rush to the door in hopes of his seeing his dad. He was disappointed every time. He finally gave up. He was tired of having his hopes crushed.
