I remember when it all started, Timmy had brought a new snack to school. All of the kids knew what it was, it was the new snack of the century for kids like us. The gold of snacks that kids would trade their whole lunch just to have one gusher. Fruit by the foot was the company that started this mess. I'm guessing some ingredient in that gusher was mixed in by accident, or maybe it was on purpose. Whatever the case was, it was not good. Everyday Timmy would come in with that snack. Until a week had passed, Timmy started to get really protective of the gushers. He would stop sharing with the kids and eat two small packets, he would usually have one but I guess the parents gave him a second because he loved them so much. After another week had passed, Timmy stopped coming to school. We didn't know exactly why but other kids didn't care because they finally had their own packet of sunshine, or so they thought. I on the other hand with my family always on a tight budget, my lunches would consist of; a peach, a gogert and some home made leftovers from the night before, served cold.I guess i could thank my parents for not buying those sugar filled things.

When a month had passed more kids stayed at home because they were sick. The news started saying that the US was facing some trouble with kids and teens being sick, they didn't figure out why until Timmy, the first kid to have his parents buy and eat the packets of gush were on the news. They said that the strangest thing happened. They were worried about Timmy's family who had not come out of their house for the past couple of weeks. The neighbors started to complain about a sour sweet stench coming from the house. And when the police went to check on the house all they found was a pile of gusher fluid. That's how I started.

Now we're all frightened for our lives, closing every window, selling every possible entrance that the gush could get in. It was sentient. The world had turned into chaos but I knew this was only the beginning of the end.
