Usually she would do homework during baseball practice because she would oftentimes go home with Jeff, they lived 4 houses down from each other oddly.

She made her way up the bleachers and took her usual spot in the middle where the sun hit. She took this time to get a tan in and get work done.

After practice she walked down toward the dugout to wait for Jeff. Monty quickly gathered his bags and left the dugout to the locker room.

"Damn Garcia, what did you do to him?"

"What makes you think it was me Reed?"

"Because he didn't even give his usually flirty 'hey baby doll'" Scott mocked.

"I didn't do anything." she shrugged

"You never do." Monty spoke as he pushed past the two to grab the glove he forgot on the bench

"Ouch de la Cruz" She said looking at him.

"Same thing I said Garcia." he retorted leaving the girl with words in her mouth.

Scott looked at her concerned. She just rolled her eyes and shook her head finally leaving with Jeff.

"It's fine I'll text him later or I'll see him at the party. It'll be fine

"There's no way Montgomery de la Cruz can stay mad at Auriella Garcia." Jeff chuckled.

Later on that day Jeff sat on his couch with Auriella on the floor by him as the two finished up any homework they had from the day.

There was a knock at the door. The two looked at each other confused.

"You invited a girl over Atkins and you have your baby cousin sitting in your living room with you?" she joked.

"I would never, that's gross." he laughed getting up to jog to the door.

"Monty?" he questioned opening the door to see a beat-up, Montgomery de la Cruz.

"I um, I need a place to crash..." he said looking hopelessly at Jeff.

"Yeah, man c-come in, Auri's in the living room."

"Oh great." he huffed.

Auriella was cleaning up the living room of the notebooks and textbooks scattered across the coffee table.

She looked up to see the bloody Monty and she couldn't help but feel sad and hurt for him.

"Oh Monty, I'll um... I'll get some wipes and stuff." she spoke picking up the stack of books and taking them down the hall to the room she usually stayed in when her parents were out of town at Jeff's.

She came out with a wet rag, some band-aids, and alcohol pads. She sat next to him and began cleaning him up as Jeff went to get him a change of clothes.

"I don't need you to do this." He said with an attitude pulling away from her.

"Okay I get your mad at me for whatever reason, but at least let me clean up your cuts before they get infected de la Cruz." she spoke sternly pulling his face towards her.

He huffed loudly but allowed the girl to finish cleaning his face up.

"I don't know why exactly you're mad at me but I'm sorry." she spoke as she placed at ice pack on his now bruised cheek.

"You not knowing it's helping anything." he stated plainly

"Well then tell me what I did" she looked at him.

"Just forget about it, who cares." he spoke moving away from her.

"Obviously I care. So tell me."

"I get that I am a 'player' but you of all people pointing it out bothered me." he told her without looking in her direction.

"Me?"

"Yeah, you Auriella."

"How did that make a difference?"

"Here bro, let me know if you need anything." Jeff cam interrupting their conversation.

"Thanks, man." he said taking the clothes and going to the room Auriella was staying in.

After he changed he came back out in the living room to join the two again.

"Okay, I'm going to head home. I'll see you guys tomorrow." she said standing up to gather her stuff.

"But your parents aren't at home?" Jeff questioned because he knew she didn't like being alone.

"It's fine, Monty can have the bed." she smiled over at him and went to leave.

"No you can stay, I'll take the couch or something." he said looking at her.

"You can just take half the bed." she looked at him.

"You better not try something de la Cruz" Jeff warned.

Auriella would have just slept with Jeff but she knew he was going to sneak his girlfriend over so she didn't even let that idea pass her mind

"I'm not bro." he told him.

With that, the three dispersed in the house.

Auriella walked over to the dresser where she kept some pajamas. She stayed there so often she should have just moved in at this point.

She grabbed some shorts and one of Aaron's old football t-shirts she had. She walked out to the guest bathroom to shower as Monty sat on the bed and scrolled through the dumb shit being said in the baseball group chat.

Walking back in the room with wet hair and her dirty clothes in her hand. She placed it in the small hamper she had put in there a couple of months back. The room was pretty much hers at his point. She put some conditioner in her hair and began combing it out.

Monty couldn't help but stare as she did everything. He had never seen a girl do something so simple and look the way she did.

"Enjoying the view?" she questioned raising an eyebrow at him through the mirror

"I wasn't looking at you." he retorted.

"Mhm, I saw you de la Cruz." she laughed parting her hair and beginning to braid it.

"I don't get how girls have the patience to do that." he spoke as he watched her braid one side of her head.

"It doesn't take that long." he shrugged as she finished up the one side.

"I mean I have a sister but she doesn't do this kind of stuff."  he shrugged just watching the girl fascinated.

"Well I only have a brother and my mom has always had short hair so I had to learn how to do all of this on my own." she spoke focused on finishing the other braid.

"Well they look good on you." he spoke flirtatiously looking her up and down.

"Nu-uh De la Cruz, don't even think about it."

"You're no fun Garcia." he chuckled adjusting himself in the bed leaving her enough room.
