Albert noticed things.
He noticed more than he liked to admit.
For example, he noticed that Spot could fall asleep next to a marching band blaring loudly, but will wake up from a deep sleep if he hears his name or how Tommy Boy loves Nickelback, but will hide all his albums when he has people over or how his fiance suddenly came home with bruises on his chest and shoulders.
He also noticed the less amount of contact between them and how he smelled like vanilla and how he suddenly got protective of his phone and would yell if Albert tried to see what he was doing.
Not only that, but he began noticing how Spot bit his lip when he was holding back a smile or laugh and the way he would knock their knees together playfully or when he blushed he looked at the ground before glancing back up. He began seeing the gap in his teeth more, how soft his hands really were when they held hands or how soft his lips looked.
He began paying attention to the warmth and softness of his lips, his giggle, his curly hair, stretch marks on his thighs.
Then he saw that Morris was noticing stuff too.
The later hours, the swollen lips, the scratches on his back, the way Spot and Albert stared at each other. That longing look.
All of it.
So, he left.
Albert almost lost it.
He was hurt.
He felt awful.
Spot held him close that night.
Albert noticed how his feelings for Spot changed. He liked him a lot. He really, really liked him. Those eyes, the way they crinkled at the ends when he grinned. His accent, how thick it would get if he got mad. His old self harm scars that were scattered around his body.
He loved those.
He loved him.
He noticed how after three years of dating he got fidgety and nervous, his hands in his pockets more than usual.
He got worried that maybe he'd gotten tired of him until he pulled out that stupid, bright shining ring.
They both cried when he said yes.
Everything was perfect.
Then he began noticing the way Spot stared at Tommy Boy.
The way he did that laugh around him over a stupid joke, that smile he got when he saw him, that look he got when he was mentioned.
Albert noticed things.
