I have a lot of questions to ask Castor Saenz but they were back-burnered as soon as I reach the office. My first meeting lasted for nearly an hour. By the time my second meeting was finished, it was nearly twelve o'clock in the afternoon and I still had a gazillion e-mail correspondences that I did not personally compose but had to approve before they could be sent.
"Miss Ayn..." my secretary popped her head inside my office.
I could not even afford to look up from my laptop. "Yes, Lenny?"
"Um...may dumating po na food para sa inyo—"
"Throw it, I did not order anything."
"It's from your husband's kitchen po."
My fingers which were typing away stilled and I raised my head to frown at my smiling secretary who approached my desk to put a bento box in front of me.
"Don't ask questions," I said.
Lenny looked surprised but nodded. "Yes po, Miss Ayn."
"And don't tell anyone about this."
"Opo."
"You can leave," I said.
"Okay po," she replied before she scurried out of the room.
As soon as the door clicked closed, I swore under my breath and took my phone out of my drawer to dial Castor's number. But soon realized that I didn't have it.
"Shit...how the hell am I going to yell at him, eh, ni hindi ko nga pala s'ya matawagan?"
I knew that I should probably wait but I was really so pissed with what he was trying to pull that I searched for their company's number on the internet.
Minutes and a dozen transfers later, I was finally connected to the main man himself.
"Hello, Ayn, is that really you—?"
"What the hell are you trying to prove?" I immediately asked, my annoyance tripling because I had to wait for ten minutes just to talk to him.
"Why are you calling our company's landline?"
"Because I don't have your mobile number!"
"But, you do. Ibinigay ko sa'yo kahapon."
I do?
"Well, that's not the point! Why do you have to announce that I am married to you?!"
"What?"
"What exactly were you thinking sending food over and telling my secretary that it's from my husband's kitchen?!"
"Ha?"
"You know why I don't like you? It's because I can't trust you at all! You always pull a fast one on me! Why would you do something so underhanded? And in my own office at that?!"
I heard him sigh. "Ayn..."
"Oh, shut it, Castor! The problem with you is you are such a self-centered bastard!" I said before I ended the conversation.
I was still fuming when my office's door was thrown open and my mother walked in. "O, why are you not eating?" she asked. "And why are you red-faced and scowling? Sino na naman ba ang nagpainit sa ulo mo, ha?"
"Hay, naku, ewan ko, Mommy! I am so angry!"
"Why?"
I stared at my mother realizing that there was no way that I could tell her about that conversation with Castor.
I inwardly sighed. "Wala, Mommy. Just some hiccups with one of the proposals."
"Ikaw naman kasi, masyado kang seryoso sa trabaho. Napakaliit na bagay ay ikinakainit ng ulo mo."
