(A/N: Remy's text is going to be in bold for the phone call so you can tell who's talking)
As I turned the purple gem Roman had made me over in my hands, I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. Remy was calling me. Sighing, I answered it.
"What Remy?"
"Bitch, what kinda way is that to greet your brother?"
"Rems, speak English would you?"
"Why is Roman in prison?"
"Same as always. Prejudice. I didn't ask any further. Didn't really want to know." My wings twitched under my brace.
"How'd fighting Princey go?"
"You heard about that?"
"It's all over the news, hun."
"Great." I sighed. "Look, I'm coming back now. Want me to get you anything? I'm on main street."
"Starbuckssss please."
"Fine. Same as usual?"
"You know it, gurl. Bye."
"See ya." And then I hung up. My wings twitched again. God, it was so annoying wearing a brace. It felt like I was in a straitjacket. I stopped at the nearest Starbucks and ordered Remy's favourite. Then, I texted him. Hey, I got your bean juice. Could you pick me up? I didn't feel like walking and flying was definitely out of the question. I needed Logan's help before I could fly again. I heard the screech of tires and looked up to see Remy speeding down the road. He parked right next to me and held out his hand. "Coffee, now." I rolled my eyes and got in the car. "Drive first." I said. He huffed but sped back to our house.
"Logan, we're back!" I yelled up the stairs at our third and final roommate. Logan came rushing down the stairs, pushing his glasses up his nose and looking very worried. "What's ruffled your feathers, gurl?"
"You need to stop hanging out with Emile." I muttered, unbuttoning my shirt. I needed to take my brace off right now, it was painful. "He's my boyfriend, Virge. I can't just stop seeing him." I rolled my eyes and unfurled my wings. "But seriously Lo, what's up?"
"I saw the whole fight on the television. Your wing seemed badly singed so I must check if it hurt or broken." Logan said, checking my wings and I swear he pulled out a tape measure.
"Lo, it's fine."
"It is most certainly not fine, Virgil. If your wing is badly hurt then you won't be able to keep the city safe and if you can't keep the city safe then-"
"Yeah, I know what happens. I've watched Batman too, Lo." I said, rolling my eyes and wincing. "Ow!"
"Ah, as I suspected. While your wing is not badly burnt, you cannot fight crime for about..." Logan counted a few numbers on his fingers, "one week."
"One week?!" I yelled incredulously.
"Yes. That is what I said."
"Lo, do you know how much can go wrong in one week?! I need to protect the city."
"I'm afraid that there is no other option, Virgil. Anxiety goes away until you are healed." Logan said gravely but firmly. I growled but reluctantly agreed. I'm probably just over-reacting. I mean, how much trouble could be caused in 7 days?
