Josephine

Unpleasant event in this morning has already exhausted me yet I can't believe it's still lunch break.

Entering the cafeteria I'm instantly welcomed by whispers and mocking laughs with them alternately looking at the wall and me. What's on the wall? I turn my head to it and gasp.

"Josephine Langford is a slut."
"The reason she got into this high school is because she slept with our principal."
"Her hobby is to have threesum."

These bullshits are written with red paint.
What the hell?

"I wonder who wrote these?"
An evil voice emitted from Sarah echoes in the room.
"Yeah, I've never seen something this harsh."
China says with a fake sob.
"But no one would write things that aren't truth, you know?"
When Dove spits the last venom, people in the room burst into laughter like it is the funniest thing in this universe.
My hands unconsciously form fists at both of my sides and I run to my secret spot without a single thought.

As soon as opening the door, the flame inside me starts to come out as words.
"What the fuck is wrong with them? I'm so pissed off. My hobby is having threesum? Are you kidding? I'm still a virgin, assholes!!!!!"
I feel a bit calm thanks to screaming but I remembered something very crucial.

This place is Ross's, which means he heard what I said...?

...Holy shit!!!!!!!!

I quickly climb down a few steps and see the other side of the stairs to learn if my theory is true or not.

There is none. Thank god.
I sigh in relief for not having fooled myself.

"So... you're virgin, huh?"

That familiar voice sounds behind me and I jump in both surprise and embarrassment.

Reluctantly facing Ross, I'm greeted by his grin. He must be making fun of me.

"Don't laugh at me."
My voice was stronger than I intended so I try to make it milder.
"... please."
That's better.

"Do you know the time difference between Paris and Los Angeles?"
His sudden question catches me off guard.
"W...what?"
"Time difference."
What is he talking about?
"No, I don't."
I reply in a small voice laced with confusion.
"...Ok."

It is all he says and pulls out his phone which vibrated a few seconds ago. The moment he looks at the screen his face lights up as though a kid who wakes up on Christmas. He's cute.... Wait, what did I just say?

To conceal the inner panic, I look into his phone and see a message from someone. Reading the letters 'Sel' on the screen, I soon realize it's none other than Selena Gomez who is my mentor. Wow!!!

Then I remember that I've heard F4 have been close to her ever since they were kids. And assuming from his expression, he's got a crush on her, which I totally understand. I mean, it's Selena that we're talking about, people! Even I want to get married to her.

I absentmindedly kept watching him until he finally shove his phone into his pocket a while later and walked up stairs without saying goodbye. But when he pulls the doorknob, he eventually looks at me and gives me a small smile before going inside the building.

Left alone, my mind unconditionally wanders to him. I'd never seen him looking happy till now, and I'm sure he likes her a lot. With this realization, however, I feel a slight sting in my heart.

"...Hmmm. You look so happy, Jo."
Joey smirks after I informed her about my current state.... well mainly about Ross, though.
"Wh...what? No!"
I stupidly stutter.
"You're really bad at lying."
Her laugh fills the store and I feel my cheeks redden.
"But I'm a bit worried about you."
She states in a serious voice.
I tilt my head in confusion, then she continues.
"I mean, he's one of F4, right? They are the ones who handed you a red notice for the record, Jo."
"Well, he IS one of F4 but he's different from the rest. I don't think he's that kind of person like Hero who loves bullying."
I tell her with confidence, which makes her laugh again.
"So you like him, don't you?"
Her question halts my heartbeat.
"What? No!"
Of course not! I mean, yes he looks like a prince and helped me multiple times, but he's sometimes cold like an ice and too mysterious to speculate his thoughts. I even get scared by him from time to time. Moreover, he's friends with Hero in the end. How could I like my enemy's friend??

"Yeah, whatever you say."
She overly rolls her eyes and starts wiping the counter.

I don't like him in that way. Do I...?
I don't know how I feel about him, to be honest, which makes me more confused.

My brain was in an endless loop when Joey called my name.
"Hey, Jo! Looks like your friend is here."
Following her pointed finger, my eyes meet with a pair of green eyes.

"Lili? What are you doing here?"
