Chapter 18
Percy
Pain. That was all I felt. The area where it was worse was on my left side around my ribs. It burned like Erebus. I know, I know. I don’t use Hades’ name anymore. I could feel poison coursing in my veins. It was burning, destroying, hurting, and killing me. Why wasn’t I dead yet? Did the fates want to torture me with this pain?
“Please let me die already.” I pleaded. Suddenly, I was on the edge of the cliff. I couldn’t move and I was at the very edge. Over the edge, loose rocks tumbled into the chasm and I could see a huge vast space of darkness. It almost looked deeper than Tartarus. Something told me that if I fell into the chasm, then I would die. I felt a force starting to pull me over the edge. I was about to fall over the edge when an invisible force started to push me away from the chasm. They more tried than did. I was stuck; between life and death. The pain was now almost unbearable. I could feel my strength waning.
I, Percy Jackson, Hero of Olympus, slayer of the Minotaur, the Nemean Lion, the furies, Clazmonian Sow, Medusa, Procrustes, Polymetheus, defeater of Kronos, Hyperion, Gaea, Oceanus, Coeus , Crius, Iapetus, Epimetheus , Menoetius , Perses, Tartarus, Atlas, Hades, Ares, survivor of Thalia, Artimis, Zoe, Hades, The Hunters, Zeus, and betrayal was about to die. That took a while to think up but hey, it helped me forget the pain and remember some laughs that I had with my friends.
Suddenly, the invisible force blasted me away from the edge of the cliff and I sank into darkness. I guess I was wrong about dying.
8 Days Later
Groaning, my eyes fluttered open. I looked up to see a pair of black eyes staring down at me. I yelped in surprise and then winced because of the sudden flare of pain in my side.
“Hold still Percy.” I heard a voice say. My eyes focus and I see the worried face of Chaos staring down at me. The room that I was in has plain white walls and a wooden floor. A soft yellow light from a light bulb shines lightly on my face. “I was so worried. Do you know who stabbed you?” He asked me.
“Mark.” I croaked out, my voice almost inaudible. Chaos got a look of rage on his face.
“How did he do it?” My father questioned. I coughed again. “It’s okay. You don’t have to tell me now.” He said in a rush.
“Dad,” I croaked,
“Yes?” He answered.
“I’m fine.” I stated firmly but I still spoke softly. “I was killing a titan-“ I coughed again and ended up coughing out blood. The crimson liquid splattered the sheets with red and gold splotches. As soon as my coughing fit was over I stopped and looked up at Chaos. My father looked at me with concern in his eyes.
“You really don’t have to continue, actually, you shouldn’t.” He told me but I continued, ignoring his protests “- and Mark snuck up on me and stabbed me.”
“That was very cowardly.” Chaos said angrily. I just nodded my head.
“He went over to the other side; Gaea’s and Kronos’.” I said but I didn’t really care. It didn’t really matter which side Mark was on. He was such a terrible fighter that it didn’t matter. I struggled to sit up but I ended up wincing again. Chaos just pushed me back down against the bed.
“Please stop Percy.” He pleaded to me. I knew that he was worried about me but it really didn’t hurt that much. Okay, fine, that was a lie. Right now, my side was burning with the heat and intensity of Greek fire. At least I was somewhat good at ignoring the pain. I am guessing that Chaos was somehow reading my mind to know how I was feeling. He nodded to confirm my suspicions.
“This is so annoying! Why do you have to know about everything that I am thinking?” I thought and Chaos grinned.
“It is for your own safety Percy.” Chaos said.
“Fine. If he gets to read my mind, then I get to call him Lord Chaos.” I thought and Chaos’ smile turned into a frown.
“Zoe came to check and you, and Percy, must you?” He asked and I just nodded my head. He sighed and mumbled a few words that I couldn’t hear. “Can you try to sleep? I want you to get better as soon as possible.” He told me.
“But Lord Chaos,” I grinned evilly in my head. “I am fine.” I lied. "Can I tell Zoe that I am sorry?” I asked and he shook his head to answer my question. I knew that I shouldn’t argue with Chaos. I loved doing it though but it was pointless. Chaos always won the fight.
“Really, Percy, did you really think that you could lie to me?” I nodded my head and he face palmed. “If you don’t go to sleep, I am going to have to force you.” My father threatened me. I shrugged. I didn’t really care but I loved annoying Chaos.
“What if I could fight it?” I asked.
“You can’t.” Chaos answered. “I am the creator of the Universe. I have trained my powers to be strong. Now, are you going to sleep or not?” I shook my head. I loved annoying Chaos. My father frowned and I smiled. “Fine.” He said and before I could react, he put his hand on my forehead and my world faded into darkness.
