George practically smashed the 'end stream' button after he said the words "I love you."
Those three words were painfully awkward for him to say, and he didn't even know why he said it. He was completely sober, though extremely sleep deprived- did he actually stream for 8 hours straight? He did, but he wasn't about to admit he stayed up for Dream.
Ah, Dream. Good old step-Dream. Of course George would pull an all nighter if it meant spending time with Dream. They both had abnormal sleep schedules, but when it came down to it, George knew that with all the times he stayed up, it was to see Dream. Well, they were friends right? It's what friends do- staying up late to game and to scream at the monitor when the other gets killed by a creeper. Just guys being dudes, and just friends being friends.
They were nothing but friends, George told himself. That's why saying "I love you" was a bit strange. He couldn't fathom how Dream could flirt so casually, even if it was a joke. What he also couldn't fathom was that he would get flustered after Dream would flirt.
George shrugged it off as part of his sleep deprivation. He supposed he blushed because flirting simply causes that. It could come from anyone and he would still get all blushy- so take that! It wasn't just Dream that elicited that response.
He hesitated a little. Well, maybe it was worse because Dream was his friend, and also hearing his voice didn't help because he liked listening to it sometimes-
Okay woah, what the actual hell, brain? I can't believe you've done this.
George decided that he was going to sleep to make up for the time he spent streaming with Dream, and to also silence whatever thoughts he was having about liking Dreams voice.
They were just friends, and only friends. Nothing more, nothing less. Liking your homie's voice doesn't make you gay, and George definitely had socks on too- he checked.
As he got comfortable in bed, and was about to drift off to dreamland, he calmed down a bit.
Just friends, and only friends.
..........
But why did "friend" sound so weird?
George groaned in his pillow.
Screw you, brain.
~*~*~*~*~
The following night was when George gained consciousness again. He really needed to fix his sleep schedule, but that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. He yawned a bit before immediately checking his phone because we live in a society. He hesitated upon seeing Dream's message prior to the stream.
He wasn't mad, was he? He did ban George for a bit, and while George was never going to admit it, it kinda hurt. It took a while before he decided he was jiust going to respond as if nothing had happened. As if he didn't jokingly- was that even jokingly? Yes, it was. As if he hadn't jokingly processed his love for Dream. George had to convince himself there were no other implications when he said it.
Minutes after, he got a text.
Are you online?
George brushed off whatever thoughts he had about Dream and gave a witty response. He was expecting Dream to either pretend to be annoyed or pretend to be in love with him as a response.
He was not, however, expecting Dream to send him a number, his actual number, asking to FaceTime him.
What?!
