** The First Day**
The blaring alarm pierced the early morning silence, dragging me from the depths of my dream. As I groaned, reaching out to silence the persistent noise. my hand met the cold, unforgiving metal of the alarm clock. 5:30 AM. Today was the day.
laying still for a moment, the weight of reality slowly sinking in. The day had arrived. College. I had been anticipating this moment for months, but now that it was here, a mixture of excitement and anxiety churned in as i rolled out of bed, rubbing the sleep off my eyes, and shuffled to the window. The sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon, casting a soft orange glow over the suburban landscape.
Turned away from the window, glancing around the bedroom. Boxes were stacked neatly in one corner, labeled with a black marker: "Clothes," "Books," "Misc." Everything was ready for the big move. Mom had insisted on labeling everything, a habit which i found both endearing and slightly over the top.
Downstairs, the familiar scent of coffee and freshly baked muffins wafted through the air. As i quickly dressed, throwing on a pair of jeans and my favorite t-shirt, i headed down the stairs.
In the kitchen, mom was bustling about, a look of concentration on her face as she arranged a tray of muffins. She looked up and smiled as me as i entered.
"Morning, sweetie. Ready for the big day?"
I nodded, a smile tugging at the corners of my mouth. "Yeah, I think so. Just feels... surreal, you know?"
Mom chuckled, handing me a steaming mug of coffee. "I remember my first day of college. It's a big step, but you're ready for it. We've packed everything you need, and your father and I will help you get settled in."
As i took a sip of coffee, savoring the warmth. "Thanks, Mom. I'm excited, just... a little nervous too."
She reached out and squeezed my hand. "That's normal. But you'll do great. Now, let's have some breakfast before we hit the road."
The morning passed in a blur of last-minute packing and goodbyes. My Dad helped load the car, meticulously arranging the boxes to make everything fit. My older sister, Olive, bounded out of the house, her face lit up with excitement.
"Natasha, finally you are going to college and am so proud of you" she said eyes wide with excitement.
I ruffled my hair, laughing. "Thanks sis, all thanks to your tutoring when i was preparing for the entrance exam."
Olive Smiled, gave me a hug as the family piled into the car. The drive to the college was filled with chatter and laughter, my parents sharing stories from their own college days, and Olive telling me story about dorm life and new friends.
As they pulled up to the campus, my heart began to race. The sprawling buildings, the neatly manicured lawns, the throngs of students moving in - it was all so real now. They found a parking spot and began the process of unloading the car.
My dorm was on the third floor of a red-brick building that looked both imposing and welcoming. The halls were filled with other students, some already settled in, others, like him, just arriving. I found my room, a modest but cozy space with two beds, two desks, and a window overlooking the campus quad.
My roommate, a tall, slim chocolate skin girl with braided hair, was already there, unpacking her things. She looked up as i entered, a friendly grin spreading across her face.
"Hey! You must be Natasha. I'm Jennie. Nice to meet you!"
I smiled, shaking Jennie's outstretched hand. "Nice to meet you too, Jennie."
As i dropped the rest of my belongings in the hostel, i rushed downstairs to bid my family a goodbye before they leave cause its already midday.
"We will miss you so much" said my mom and sis as they hugged me.I stood as they entered the car and zoom off, and my sis waving at me with a smile on her face.
"Finally, am out of my family watch", i said while walking down the student Villa."Oops! I forgot to mention that i was admitted to an Art School under " Filmmaking ", which has always being my dream course.
" wow, this college is so large and well built", i said to myself as i find my way back to the hostel.
