"I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind, that I put down into wooooooords...... how wonderful life is, now you're in the wooooorld." My best friend, my brother, my partner in crime and everything you could possibly think of, in a bloody recording studio, getting Your Song ready for the whole world to finally hear. It felt as if I was in dreamland, floating on a cloud of music and smiles. I couldn't look away. I was under Elton's musical spell, just like Bernie and Ray. Everyone was going to love this beautiful song.
"How was that?" Elton's expecting eyes looked to us all with so many different emotions crossing his face all at once. And I couldn't even form words. Because I was suddenly crying like the girl I am for my best friend and his dreams finally coming true. This was real. Not just something we used to play pretend on, saying one day it would eventually happen if we're lucky enough. It's not a scenario little Reggie and Alice used to play out. No. This..... was it.
"I assume the tears are of happiness and that I wasn't awful....?" I couldn't help but chuckle, bursting into major claps with the worlds biggest grin on my lips.
"Oh Elt! That was anything but bloody awful. That was.... magical. Unreal. Beautiful....." I threw my arms around Bernie's shoulders, softly kissing his cheek once Elton had exited the recording booth and came to join us, listening back the song he just made happen. That's his voice on that tape.... we aren't kids anymore.
"Oh Bernie you genius! Oh you two! I could just kiss you for days." Elton winked at Bernie with a little nod of teasing, hugging us both so tightly.
"What about me you lot?!" We all three laughed from Ray's sudden voice in our ears, seeing that he looked just as excited as we felt. Dick was going to love this. I can feel it.

"I love it! I always knew you boys could do it." A Champagne bottle was popped and the party was about to begin! I had this massive feeling it was going to be a hit. And I haven't been wrong yet. So Lady Luck, stay with us three goofs. We love you!"Now, this means I want a three album deal. A year." My eyes practically bugged from my head at the mention of records and a massive deal that I did not see coming. He knew this was an opportunity he couldn't pass up. I knew he'd come around. And judging from Elton and Bernie's faces, they were ecstatic, blown away, completely mind boggled. So was I. Three albums a year?!
"And I also got you a couple of nights at the Troubadour. Doug Weston is a good friend of mine." Wait a second. Hold the phone, the fort, all of it. Because did he just say what I think he did......? The Troubadour?! That is a massive place for talent!! A couple nights is definitely going to put Elt on the map!
"Now let's not get hasty.... I don't even have a backing band..... and...." Elton looked utterly terrified. I mean, this would be his first major gig since becoming a recording artist, the moment every singer dreams of. I would be nervous as hell.
"I got you one man. It's alright. It's all taken care of." Ray grinned from ear to ear, but could easily see Elton's worry flashing through. It was all happening so fast. And he was steadily holding his foot over the break.
"I don't want to seem ungrateful Dick but you can't just spring the Troubadour on me!" I softly patted Elton's arm in a comforting manner, sitting on the arm of the couch next to Bernie. He slowly looked to me with that scared look in his eyes. But underneath it all, I knew he was excited.
"I know America is a bit of a gamble, seeing as you're brand new to the scene. But if you fuck it up, I'll kill ya." Dick's little humored grin, had me chuckling a little from the smile that slowly started to form on Bernie's face.
"You're going to smash it Elt. Don't even for a minute think you won't. Everything is set to go. Dick is looking out for you. Don't worry. Okay?" He smiled a little as Dick sat down next to the finally calm and sitting Elton, handing him some money and going over what would be done for the shows. Get some flashy attire. And don't kill ourselves on drugs. Easy enough!

"America?! Bloody hell Elton! That is fantastic news. Congratulations!!" My dad brought him into a massive hug, seeming like the proud father he's always been."Just.... don't let anything happen to my little girl over there yeah? LA is a massive place." I grinned a little, softly holding onto Bernie with my arms wrapped around his neck. I could stare at this man all day and feel happy. Safe. Everything.
"Oh I'll be fine dad! Really. This is going to be the best trip of our lives. The Troubadour is not ready for Elton John. And America certainly isn't." Elton winked with a nod in agreement, causing me to laugh. We had already had the night to pack up whatever we possibly wanted to bring with us on our journey, feeling like free spirits already. America.....

"That trip lead to one crazy future for ole Elt here. How are we still alive?" He grinned from next to me, both of us looking at everyone else in our group session today from the story we both just told."I have no fucking clue. But I'm glad we are to tell our tales of crazy highs. Lots of them." I wrapped my arm around his shoulder, softly resting my head on him with a happy sigh. The beautiful ring on my hand put a smile to my face with the light of the room reflecting off of it, reminding me of Bernie. We have a whole set of stories to tell. The good and the ugly.
