Alone Together - Carl Grimes

First Time Again

     Annalise and Carl ran towards the noise without a second thought. Running through the streets of Alexandria, the two stopped right outside the meeting area. Annalise's mouth dropped at the sight in front of her. Looking at a crying Deanna as she held her dead husband in her arms. Her eyes then wandered to the sight next to them, that being an also very dead Pete Anderson. 

The thought of Ron imminently came into Annalise's mind, she knew well enough that he was already having a hard time with the fight his dad had got into. Now, this? Annalise began to worry about how the boy would handle this type of news. 

" I have to tell him. "  Annalise muttered, feeling Carl's stare on her. Carl didn't want Annalise anywhere near the Anderson family, knowing he might not be able to protect her from any irrational thoughts or feeling they were having towards the group. Especially someone as close to the Grimes' as Annalise.

Carl shakes his head, still watching Annalise look at the sight in front of them. " You need to let Jessie tell him. It's only right. "  What Carl was saying processed inside Annalis's mind quickly and she knew he was right. She knew she couldn't be the one to tell Ron. This all made Annalise's stomach turn, not even being able to imagine what it would feel like if she lost Glenn. 

Nodding her head Annalise opened her mouth to reply but was cut off by a frantic call of her name. Annalise recognized the voice without a second thought, and her head snapped towards the call of her name. Her eyes met Maggie's and her eyes widen when she saw the slightly frantic woman running past the two. " I'll be back. "  She muttered to Carl before running towards Maggie without another word. 

Maggie stopped in her tracks when she saw Annalise running towards her. Grabbing the hand Maggie held out for her, the two made their way to the infirmary of Alexandria. Annalise had no idea why they were going there yet she grew more nervous the closer they got. 

Annalise and Maggie walked into the small infirmary of Alexandria and her eyes immediately fell on the bloodied Glenn Rhee. " Oh my god. " Annalise muttered under her breath before following behind Maggie to Glenn. Glenn's head shot up at the combined footsteps and the sound of a worried Annalise. He was holding onto his side but used his other arm to reach out for his girls. " Careful. " Maggie muttered to Glenn and she held onto him. 

Annalise detaches herself from Glenn and Maggie,  before walking to the counter and grabbing a damp washrag. Walking back to Glenn, Annalise begins trying to get the drying blood off of his face. " What happened? " Annalise asked, her voice barely above a whisper since Nicolas was still in the room. Glenn said nothing, only shaking his head at the younger girl. Annalise dropped the subject, knowing that whatever happened out there, now wasn't the time to talk about it. 

Silence overtook the small room as Maggie and Annalise stood close to Glenn, both trying to help him recover from whatever happened outside the Alexandria walls. The silence broke when the sound of footsteps neared the infirmary. Looking at the door, the group was met with a wide-eyed Eugene. He wasted no time walking up to Tara, who was almost as happy to see him as he had been with her. 

" Thank God nothing happened to your hair. "  She joked, causing a chuckle to slip past Annalise's lips. Yet Eugene stayed quiet, just taking a moment to look at the woman laying n the bed in front of him. Tara let out an awkward laugh as the eye contact was growing almost uncomfortable for her. " Okay, Eugene's freaking me out. Someone want to send Noah in here to protect me. " Tara added, causing the smile on Eugene's face to drop. 

The mention of Noah made the whole room fall even more silent than they already were. With everyone forgetting Tara had no idea that Noah had died. None of them knew how to tell her, or even knew who should be the one to tell her. Especially with the fact that Nicholas was still in the room, the man who was responsible for Noah's death.
