Here is a great doo-wop single from 1963, towards the end of the era for the genre. This song is mostly known for the Gentry's cover of it in 1965, but I really love the original more! I have the Gentry's cover on a 45 but it would be super cool if I found the original! The keyboard intro (which is in the key of C where as The Gentry's is is A Flat) is really good and reminds me of a soul or motown feel. The horn intro intro before the keyboard intro is super too.
The keyboard is the heart of the song, and it makes this version much better than The Gentrys. Even if it's four chords repeating at two beats each over and over, it still sounds amazing and let's face it, no one these days can rock the 50's Progression in C as good as them.
Also I'm a professional at playing the 50's Progression on guitar because I have no motivation to practice the songs I should be learning! But, please check The Avantis's version out because you won't be disappointed!
