In my third class, math, I'm seated next to a really cute looking nerd. He has slicked back dark brown hair, dark blue eyes framed with black glasses, and a black polo shirt paired with a Ravenclaw-colored tie. I'm not excited about it for me personally, but cute nerds are Patton's type, and he certainly looks cute.
So I tap his shoulder while the class takes time to get to know each other. He glances over and adjusts his glasses. "Ah, salutations," He says, turning to face me. He sounds like he has a bit of a British accent. "Logan, they/them pronouns." He- they extend their hand.
"Roman Prince, he/him." I shake their hand and wait for a reaction. I mean, I've already been recognized by half of the school, so what's the point in trying to keep my identity a secret?
The nerd takes a moment. "You're a celebrity, correct?" I nod, surprised that he--they, I reprimand myself--only got that much. They give their own nod in return. "I see. I apologize for the delayed reaction and lack of.." They look through some index cards before holding one up. "Fangirling."
I smile. "Nah, you're cool. I don't like it when people do that."
Logan nods once more, their face impassive. Seeing as how that's the best I'm going to get out of them, I move onto my next question.
"I, uh, actually have something else I want to ask you.."
"Yes, Roman?"
I take a deep breath. "Do you like guys?"
"In what sense?" Damn, this.. person's clueless.
"Like, romantically."
"Well," Logan begins, adjusting their glasses, "I am asexual-panromantic, as well as demiromantic, so yes, I am romantically attracted to males, but that is not all that I am attracted to."
"Good to know. I'm asking because my friend, Patton, is looking for someone to date, and you seem like his type."
"I'll have to get to know him a bit more. What is he like?"
"Bubbly, energetic, happy-go-lucky, social, friendly, loves animals, innocent, need I say more?"
"No, you do not. What was his previous class?"
I think for a moment. "English, why?"
"I believe I met him. It was fascinating, the first thing he asked was what my pronouns were. Not my name, or poking fun at the teacher, but my pronouns. He's quite accepting." Logan smiles faintly.
"Yeah, he's a cupcake."
"Really? He seems like a human to me."
I snort. "No, I mean he's really kind. Didn't take you as the literal type, Lo."
"Yes, well, I tend to surprise people," they comment, adjusting their glasses.
That's when the teacher starts talking, so we both turn our attention to the front of the room.
