Chapter 1

(Adams point of view)

          I woke up with a start. I scrambled out of bed to look at the clock. I had a terrifying dream that i became ill and slept through the Nation Film Festival for Talented Youth (Otherwise known as the NFFTY) I've been looking forward to this festival for years and i'm scared that something will go wrong and ill miss it. I sigh and get the rest of the way out of bed. I get ready for the day and check my phone for the date. The festival is only two days away. I'm nervous but at the same time extremely excited. I get to work editing videos. I've always been skilled with editing but its not as fun when you have no one to help or to film videos with. I've been lonely for awhile and i'm hoping sometime soon ill be able to meet a friend...or better yet...a date.

          The day of the festival: I walk through the doors and see many people my age. I'm so excited to meet new people. i mean, that's what this festival is about anyway. As i was admiring the scene the speakers crackled to life and i heard a voice over the intercom. "The Auditorium is now opening to show films made by all of you! Everyone enter room 307 and take a seat." 

          As I walked to the auditorium passed the bathrooms and i didn't realize the big puddle on the ground and i slipped. I felt myself falling...then all of the sudden someone caught me. I look up and i see a very cute boy with shiny black hair and glasses. I blush. "Th-thank you" I stumbled over my words. "No problem" The boy said "Better be more careful, next time i might not be there to catch you." He winked and walked away. I was dumbfounded. Did that just happen?

          I straightened myself out and headed toward the auditorium. By then almost all the seats were taken so i went to the back row and sat in the first seat i saw. I looked next to me and my jaw literally hung to the floor. It was the cute guy who i bumped into earlier. He looked back at me. "Stalking me huh?" He said with a laugh. "umm....no sorry i was just a little late and-" I was cut off by the big screen and speakers bursting to life. I was watching the videos but i couldn't really pay attention. All i could think about was the cute boy next to me. What even was his name? I wanted to know so i leaned over and held out my hand. "I'm Adam by the way." I said. He shook my hand and i got butterflies in the bottom of my stomach. "My name is Justin." He opened his mouth like he was about to say something else then stopped. "One minute Adam this is my film." I awkwardly pulled my hand away from his because by this point we were shaking hands for a little to long to be normal. 

          I looked up at the screen and watched his film. I honestly couldn't stop laughing his film was hilarious. After his was done mine was next up. I was nervous. I looked over at Justin and he seemed very impressed with my editing skills. After our films i waited for the rest to be over. I just wanted to talk to Justin more. I could tell he wanted to do the same.

          When the films were finally over we both walked out of the auditorium and started talking. We talked about our jobs and how we got into the filming industry. I was barely listening to Justin i was just looking deep into his eyes. I couldn't help it. His eyes were these a beautiful rich brown and it felt like i could just fall into them. "Hello? Adam? You ok?" I heard Justin say. "O-o ya..sorry Justin." I said. I was so lost in his eyes that i missed him having a whole conversation with me. "I said....I loved your film, it had great editing." He repeated. "I really liked yours too, It was really funny." I said, returning a complement. "Hey....uh....maybe we could meet up and film a video together sometime?" I heard myself say. "Can i...uh...have your number so we can discuss ideas later?" i Timidly asked. He smiled and said "I never expected that one." He chuckled and walked away after putting his number in my phone.
